“There’s no reason for you to be awake right now.”

Her gaze slid to Zeke and then back to me, and she bit the edge of her lip.

“For fuck’s sake, Raelynn,” I snapped. “Go to sleep.”

She flinched.

I put a hand over my face, groaning in frustration. “Look. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell at you.” I dropped my hand. “Your scent…”

“My scent?”

“I didn’t want to draw attention to it since you can’t control it, but you just won’t take the hint.” I licked my lips. “This whole area smells like a bakery exploded in a rose garden.”

Her mouth dropped open, but she recovered, clearing her throat. “You’re no better. All I can smell is jasmine and cedarwood.”

I was glad I had one of my legs bent, blocking her view of the cock tenting my slacks now that her scent was strong again. It explained my scent, but I wouldn’t make her uncomfortable with it.

“It’s your scent. Don’t worry about it. If you go back to sleep, it’ll settle down.” I studied her when she made no move to turn away. “Unless you want to tell me what you were dreaming about?”

Her head snapped up, eyes wide. “What?”

“Well, something has you turned on. It sure the hell isn’t this place. So let’s hear it.” Maybe now she’d give it up and go back to sleep so I could get my head on straight.

“I wasn’t dreaming of anything.”

“Okay,” I said, playing along. “Who were you dreaming about, then?”

“You’re an ass.” She smoothed the moss around her. “I’m going back to sleep.”

“Oh, not a chance,” I said, now intrigued by how cagey she’d become. “Tell me.”

“There’s nothing to—”

“If I guess, will you tell me?” I grinned when she quit pretending to prep her makeshift bed and turned her attention to me. This could be fun. “Well?”

“What does it matter?”

“Curiosity.”

“Do you know what they say on Earth about curiosity?”

“No, and I don’t care.” I smirked at her put-off expression. “Come on. What do you have to lose?”

“Self-respect,” she muttered, which only made me want to know even more.

“Listen, if I get it wrong, I’ll sleep at the palace for a week. You won’t even have to see my face.”

She rolled her eyes.

I didn’t know what to offer, but she’d sparked something in me, and now I couldn’t let it go. She was a master at getting under my skin.

“If you’re this worried about it, it isn’t Ash. Nothing embarrassing about dreaming about fucking your partner.” I scratched my jaw. “Ezra?”

She looked at me as if I were missing a few brain cells, but it wasn’t an unrealistic guess considering the way she responded to him in the kitchen when she’d eaten the candy Jax gave her.

“Zeke?”

She looked away from me.
