“No rushing.”
“You’re the one who carried me through the apartment while you were still inside me.”
“I was motivated.”
“You nearly kicked the bedroom door from its hinges.”
“It survived.”
“Your mail might not have.”
“I’ll mourn it tomorrow.”
Her laugh turns into a gasp when I bite her lower lip.
I release it slowly. “Do you remember the night I called?”
“Every second.”
“What were you wearing?”
“Your jersey.”
“Nothing beneath it.”
“That was your favorite part.”
“My favorite part was hearing you choose not to hide.”
The answer quiets her.
I lower my mouth along her jaw and kiss the place beneath her ear. Her pulse jumps against my lips while my hand closes gently around the base of her throat.
“You didn’t hide behind jokes or wait for me to reassure you,” I tell her. “You opened your legs, told me exactly what you were doing, and let me hear what my voice did to you.”
“I wanted you.”
“You have me now.”
My mouth travels down her throat, across her collarbone, and between her breasts. Charm’s body moves restlessly beneath mine, but her wrists remain where I placed them.
“That’s my girl.”
The praise pulls another breath from her.
“You say that differently when you can touch me.”
“I mean it differently.”
“How?”
I lift my head enough to see her. “Through the phone, I was praising you for obeying.”
“And now?”
“Now I’m praising you for trusting me enough to surrender control without surrendering yourself.”
Emotion enters her eyes.
