She looked at me and laughed. “Oh, you’re talking about James? No, I didn’t let him take me to lunch,” she said.

Good for him, I thought. Had he gone behind my back and still taken her to lunch, he and I would have had some problems.

“Keep it that way. I’m the only nigga that’s going to be taking your fine ass out to eat, so Toya, please do not try me.”

She just shook her head, never replying to what I had just told her.

Damn near an hour later, we were heading back to my car. “Oh my God, I am so full, Diandre, and my feet are killing me,” Toya said.

That was all a nigga needed to hear. I stepped in front of her, picked her up bridal style and carried her to the car. When we reached my car, I set her down on top of the car and spread her legs a little so that I could stand between them.

“Wrap your arms around my neck,” I told her.

She cocked her head to the side, but she still did what I asked.

“This can be every day for you if you just let me. Let me be your man, Toya. Let me be the one that you come home to from a long day of work. I promise to feed you, cater to you, and fuck you good every night, and be faithful and love your ass. Just give a nigga a chance. I ain’t never have a woman for shit before in my life, but damn baby, you got a nigga begging.” I could still sense that my words weren’t moving her.

“Diandre, I don’t know,” she said.

Instantly, I got pissed off. I hit the hood of my car because I felt like all the shit that I was doing for her ass was going unnoticed. It’s like all this shit was for nothing.

“You a good girl, Toya, and you gone miss a good thing because you keep comparing me to these other lame ass niggas. I’m already out of my element by begging your ass, so I’m not gone beg your ass no more since I see that you done made your mind up.”

I left her on top of the car and then headed over to the driver’s side. I waited for her to get in, and then I handed her phone and started up the car. We drove in silence the whole way back to her office. When I got in the parking garage, I unlocked the door for her to get out.

“Diandre—” she started, but I stopped her.

“It’s cool, lil mama, you made your choice and I’m not about to chase you no more. I’ll leave you alone,” I said.

She gave me a sad look and then she got out of the car. I was done chasing after her ass. Too bad I won’t get the chance to see what could have been.

Somebody tell that bitch she gotta go! She gotta go!

She all up in my house walkin’ round with no clothes! She gotta go! Tell that bitch she gotta go!

I didn’t have shit else to do tonight, so I decided to swing by the studio and see what Quan’s ass was up to. I had promised this nigga that I would come chill with him one of these days in the studio, but I’d been having my own little thing going on, and I barely had time for any extra shit. But crazy how I was making extra time to be all up under Toya.

I walked into the studio and it was a bunch of niggas posted up on the wall as Quan stood in the booth with a joint in his hand, recording his new song, “She Gotta Go.” This song was the shit, though, I wasn’t even going to lie, it was basically about a bitch that Quan brought home from the club and fucked, but she was getting way too comfortable, walking around the house naked like she had it like that. So, the message to the song was, us niggas saying that she gotta go.

I walked into the room and threw both of my hands in the air, trying to get Quan’s attention. He looked up with a goofy smile on his face and told the nigga who was making the beats to cut the music off. He came out of the booth and we shook each other up. He made everybody get out of the room, expect for Quay. The three of us were in desperate need of a nigga one on one. We had been so focused on our lives, that we hadn’t really had time to link up.

“Nigga, what brings your ass down here?” he asked me once it was just the three of us in the room.

“Shit, I just finished dropping off the last of that work, so I figured that I’ll come slide over your way,” I told him.

“Nigga, you still fuckin’ around with that shit, Dre? Why you continue to drive your grandma crazy like that?” Quay asked me, referring to the fact that I was still very much heavy in the street.

“Chill, nigga, I’m almost done with this shit. After tonight, I got another drop to make and I’m about to start working on some new shit, man.”

I was telling the God honest truth. I was getting too old to be taking risks like this, and Lord knows I didn’t feel like going back to jail. I know for a fact that it would kill my grandma if something were to happen to me out here in these streets.

“I keep telling your hard headed ass that you need to jump on one of these tracks with a nigga. Dre, I think your ass was the only nigga on the block that could sit with me when it came to this rapping shit,” Quan said.

For the first time, I really gave that shit some thought.

“Fuck it! Call that nigga back in here that was doing the beat, let me see what I got up my sleeve. I got to see if a nigga still got it,” I said, standing up from my seat.
