“My bad, doc, I just had to make some shit clear. What’s going on with Nell?” he asked.

“Is everyone okay?” he asked, looking at Laura.

“Yes, it’s just the stress of the situation at hand. We are all the immediate family of Lanelle. I’m her mother, and this is all family. What is the update with my daughter?” La-La came to speak up.

“Lanelle has a broken nose, a concussion, and a sprained wrist. The concussion is what’s going to keep her here for the next two days. The broken nose will cause some swelling and discoloration around her eyes. That should fade away in a few weeks,” the doctor said.

“When can we see her?” Allen asked.

“Give her some time to get settled and y’all can see in her in about half an hour,” he told them. They all nodded their heads in understanding. “If you have any more questions, just have me paged,” he said before leaving the room.

“You better be lucky my daughter isn’t hurt too bad. If she was, I would be kicking your young ass right now then go find that bitch that you’re fucking behind my baby’s back,” La-La told Allen.

“What the fuck is up with the old folks in this damn family?” Allen asked, looking at Murder and ignoring every word La-La had just said to him.

Murder shook his head because he was wondering the same thing. He made a mental note to get Lawrynn checked out mentally; he didn’t need her being crazy as fuck like the two ladies in the waiting room who were related to her.

“What up, y’all? What’s the deal with Nell?” LJ asked as he and Lamelle came through the doors.

“We’re waiting to go to her room. The nurse or whoever should be coming in here soon,” Allen said as he slapped hands with the brothers.

Murder, on the other hand, just sat back and watched everyone in the room. He noticed that neither of them spoke to their mother when they came in. He gave them a head nod because that move right there let him know they weren’t happy about how their mom was moving. The question that kept repeating in Murder’s head was, why would she go so hard for Nikki in the first place? He understood that she was family, but Lawrynn was her damn daughter.

“If you all will come with me, I’ll take you to Lanelle’s room,” the nurse said.

They all followed her to Nell’s room.

When they walked in, she was sitting up in the bed. Allen thought he had a good idea of what she would look like, but he wasn’t prepared at all when he saw her. Nell was not only bruised but swollen as well. He walked over to her, and bending down, he placed a kiss on her forehead.

“I’m sorry this shit happened to you. I’ll take care of everything. You just sit there and get your rest,” he told her.

“Says the man who was fucking around on my daughter in the first place. If you weren’t out there fucking around with that bitch, she wouldn’t have had the balls to jump stupid to my daughter,” La-La said.

“Ma, leave it alone. You don’t even have all the details. How can you say he’s cheating?” Nell asked her mother.

“Why else would a female attack another female? He knows what he’s out there doing,” La-La said and threw Allen a look of disgust.

“If you’re just gonna stand in here accusing this man of shit that you have no proof of, you need to leave,” Nell told her mother.

She was already fighting a killer headache, and hearing her mother’s mouth wasn’t helping.

“I know I didn’t raise you to be slow and stupid behind a nigga and his stroke game. Open your eyes, Nell,” she told her daughter.

La-La knew she didn’t have any proof, but she knew something was up with that girl, and right now, Allen was the only common factor between them.

“Ma, I’m not doing this with you right now. Either you play nice or walk out the door and go home,” Nell said.

“I know he’s been fucking that girl when he’s not with you,” La-La said adamantly.

“Oh yeah, when was this, Ma? Was it while I was in the bathroom or something? It had to be because ever since we’ve been back in contact, we’ve been with each other every day and every night. He’s been at my place or I’ve been at his. We don’t have locks on our phones or none of that. He doesn’t trip when I pick his phone up. I’ve been through his phone and laptop, so miss me with the accusations. Try finding out the truth before you play Mona Scott and make up a whole storyline in your head. Goodbye, Ma, I’ll call you later,” Nell said.

She knew she didn’t have to explain all that to her mother, but she needed to shut her ranting down. Nell loved her mother to death, but right now she was out of place and plain out wrong. She watched as her mother and auntie left her hospital room.

“Who did this shit to you, cousin?” LJ asked.

“No worries, I got that shit handled. As a matter of fact, y’all chill with her for a few. I’ve got a run to make. I’ll be back soon, baby girl,” Allen said as he made his way to the door.

“You need me to roll with you?” Murder asked.
