“I want that.”

“But no more running, baby. I won’t survive it. I fear you walking away the same way you fear me running into a fire.”

His words hit me with blunt force. I never thought of it like that.

“Never. I will never walk away from you again. This is it, Trevor. You’re it for me. That is, if you don’t mind putting up with my brand of crazy.”

He steps close, so close that all of our best parts align—including our hearts. “I happen to like crazy.”

“You do?”

He nods. “I also like hot, sweet, smart, sexy, and kind,” he says, ending each word with a kiss. First to my lips and then my nose, each cheek, and my forehead before landing at my ear. “Do you know what else I like?”

It’s not just my heart throbbing now, but other places of my body, and I squeeze my thighs together. “No, what?”

“You naked.” Trevor kisses the side of my neck. With each touch of his lips against my skin, my body relaxes until I’m nothing but a pile of goo, waiting for him touch me.

“Does this mean you forgive me?”

Trevor cups my jaw, running his thumb along the apple of my cheek. “There’s nothing to forgive. You made a mistake, and you apologized. Together we’ll move on, and someday you’ll make a mistake again, or maybe it’ll be me. Either way, we’ll get through it—”

“Together,” I say, finishing his sentence.

I kiss Trevor with as much passion as I can. I tell him with my lips everything my heart has to say. My tongue plunges deep into his mouth, teasing his in a dance that gets better and better each time we kiss.

Someone, maybe Rhett, clears his throat behind us, but it goes largely unnoticed. Before I know it, Trevor’s hand slips under the back of my shirt, his fingers drawing a sensual path up my spine. I shiver and reach for his bare chest. Splaying my fingers out against his abs, I circle them around his waist and up his back, pulling him tight against me in the process.

“You do realize we’re still standing here, right?” Coop says.

We don’t stop to acknowledge them, mostly because we’re too caught up in each other. Hands and moans and whispered promises and—

“I can’t watch any more of this,” Rhett says.

I should be embarrassed, and I’m sure I’ve got a pretty good flush going on, but I’m in Trevor’s arms, and nothing else matters.

Trevor peels his mouth from mine and looks over my shoulder at his brothers.

“You have about three seconds, and then you’re going to get one hell of a show. Three.”

The front door opens.

“Two.”

The front door slams shut.

“One.”

The front door flies open again and Rhett runs in with a hand over his eyes. “I forgot my keys,” he yells, fumbling his way around the living room, peeking through his fingers in fear of catching a glimpse of something he can’t unsee.

“Time’s up,” Trevor says.

Rhett curses, and I laugh. “Give him three more seconds.”

Trevor looks down at me and smiles. “You’re too sweet.”

“Just on the outside. On the inside, I’m wild.”

“Praise Jesus! There are my keys.” Rhett runs out of the room.
