“Proof? Everyone here knows she’s Robin Hood. I don’t need any more proof than that.”

“But you do. It’s the law. I can’t arrest her on this pile of shit.”

Mitrofanov grabbed up the file and spun around. “Miss?”

“Not one fucking step closer, asshole,” Matt told him.

“Of course, but I want to hear it from the lady’s own mouth if she is or is not the Robin Hood hacker.”

“Get out of my office,” Jason ordered the mobster. “I’m the only one allowed to interrogate here. Not you.”

“This isn’t over, Sheriff. You will be hearing from my attorney.” The fucker stormed out of the office and slammed the door behind him.

“We need the laptop, Black,” Jason said.

“You’ll get it.” The man turned to him and Sean. “Time for you two to get Jena and go dark.”

Pulling out her cell, Jena watched Matt and Sean pack their bags. Her suitcase was ready. She still couldn’t believe that she was running again. Thankfully, this time she wasn’t alone.

Jena punched her mother’s number into the phone for the third time, hoping it didn’t go to voicemail again. She was starting to get concerned.

This isn’t like my mom at all. “We can take turns driving. I don’t want to stop.”

Ring. Ring. Ring. Please answer. Ring. Ring. Ring.

A cold chill ran through her body as the voicemail picked up. Her heart raced.

“Baby, still no word from your mom?” Matt asked.

“No. I’m getting worried,” she confessed.

Sean’s phone went off and she jumped. “This is MacCabe. Fuck. Yes. We’ll head straight to the airport. Got it. Thanks.” He turned to her and Matt. “That was Dylan. Black got word that Braxton left Chicago yesterday.”

“Oh my God.” Her hands were shaking. The monster was out and on the move.

Sean wrapped his arms around her. “Dylan is going to have the Knights’ private jet ready to take us to Kimmie. No fifteen-hour drive.”

“I’ve got to get to my baby.”

Jena was in total panic. The drive to the airport had taken forty minutes and she’d tried several times to reach her mother. Still no answer.

She ran to the plane. A man stood beside the jet waving them forward.

“That’s Joshua Phong,” Sean told her, running beside her.

Matt was on her other si

de. “He’s the Knights’ pilot.”

They boarded the plane, and she turned to Joshua. “Please hurry.”

“I will go as fast as this plane can go. And that’s fast. We should be landing in Albuquerque in about an hour.” Joshua went to the cockpit.

She and her guys sat down and buckled in. Her heart thudded in her chest. “Carl can’t get to my baby before I do.”
