“Do you care if I roll down my window?” Chance asked Dylan, who was driving him to the ranch.

“Not at all.” The former Navy SEAL was now the current head of security of TBK as well as one of the team members of Shannon’s Elite. “The air is brisk. Helps a man to clear his head. What’s on your mind, Chance?”

The guy was intuitive for sure. “Not a ‘what’ but a ‘who.’ Kaylyn is on my mind.”

“Just what I thought.” Dylan drove over Silver Spoon Bridge.

“How could you possibly read me so well?”

“Years of training at Langley and good instincts.”

Chance admired Dylan’s no-nonsense demeanor. Who better to ask advice from than him? “Can you shed some light on how things work in Destiny?”

“Meaning?”

“You know…how do you and Cam…make things…hell, I don’t know how to say this.”

“How do we make it work with Erica?”

Straight to the point. God, I like this guy. “As a matter of fact, yes. I’m interested in knowing how you three do it.”

“So Jaris finally got off the fence and let Kaylyn know he loved her, too? Didn’t take him as long as you.”

“Does the whole town know?”

; Dylan laughed. “Of course. It was obvious to everyone but you three.”

Chance sighed. “I really love her but I don’t understand sharing her.”

“What’s to understand? You love her. Jaris loves her. She loves you both. Everyone knows that. What’s the problem?”

“I’m not from Destiny.”

“Too bad for you. It’s the best place on the planet.”

“I’m coming to see that, but I was raised to believe that a marriage was between one man and one woman.”

Dylan laughed. “So you’re against same-sex marriages?”

“Cracking jokes isn’t like you.” Chance had never heard Dylan act this way before. The guy was so serious and to the point most of the time.

“Erica is teaching me to take myself less seriously. Plus, I’m just trying to lighten you up, buddy. You’re quite intense this morning.”

“I guess I am. Of course I’m fine with same-sex marriage. But that, too, is between two individuals, not three.”

“Really? Have you never heard of the Three Musketeers?”

He grinned. “We’re going to have to put you on stage, Dylan.”

“No way. These jokes are all for you. I’ve sort of been in your shoes, Chance. Ready to leave the woman of my dreams.”

“You and Erica?”

“Yes. I thought I was doing the right thing. I wanted to leave town and let her and my brother have a life together. I would’ve made the biggest mistake of my life had I done it. Quit trying to figure it out. Just let it be.”
