I felt a little out of place at the restaurant because I was still in my work clothes. But Vince convinced me I looked great.

“So are you going to tell me what this is all about? I made it pretty clear about how I felt and you made it clear about how you felt.”

“I was lying to you and to myself.” he admitted. “I realized that I didn’t want to be without you. You’ve brought so much joy to my life. I think about you all the time and I kicked myself every day I’ve been without you. So whatever you want to do, we can do it, as long as we’re together in some way.”

“I never wanted you for your money. I was really upset that I gave you that impression. I liked you from the moment we spoke on Facetime. Being with you just feels right.”

“It’s all water under the bridge, I’m just glad to have met you. I’m not sad that we met under those conditions because I probably wouldn’t have met you any other way.”

I sat back in my seat and stared at him. I was speechless because everything felt too good to be true. Was I really about to get what I wanted?

“I can feel myself falling in love with you.” he admitted.

“I know the feeling. I’ve been trying to fight it but it’s been damned near impossible.”

“Life has a funny way of surprising you.” he laughed, “I never expected to meet my soul mate this way.”

He rose to his feet and so did I. He pulled me into an embrace and held me tightly. This time I was content knowing that he had no intentions of letting me go.

“Well, we can just tell people that we met at Starbucks....”

THE END
