Jack kissed me as he wrapped me in his arms, and I clung to him for dear life, wishing I could freeze us inside the moment like a picture.

“Jack?” I whispered into his chest. My mind was made up, and as scary and reckless as it sounded, I had to let him know before too much time passed between us. My fears and anxieties had already played too big of a role in our relationship, and I wasn’t willing to let it continue.

I couldn’t risk it.

He leaned his face down and breathed into my hair, “What, baby?”

I looked up into his eyes and smiled. I couldn’t imagine spending one more day without this man. “Let’s go to Germany.”

“Are you sure? It’s a big decision. What about your—” I silenced him with my finger pressed to his lips.

“There’s no other place I’d rather be.”

A lot of plans still needed to be made, but as we continued to walk down the beach, holding hands, watching the dogs play in the tide under the fiery sunset, every doubt and fear I’d ever had swirled in my mind, and with each step in the sand—I knew I’d made the right decision.

Hopefully forever.
