“Where is this coming from?” She brushes the hair from my forehead in a gentle caress. “I love you, Donovan.” She kisses me. “I’m the happiest I’ve ever been when I’m with you. Please don’t ever doubt that. I can’t wait to start our life together living in your home—”

“Our home,” I interrupt.

“Our home. This is real for me Donovan. I’m old enough to know my own feelings so don’t ever think I’m doing something that I’m not ready for because I’m more than ready. I know what I want and that is you.”

I have to swallow a few times to get my emotions under control, and also to plan what I want to say to her because all words have flown out of my head.

Instead, I roll over her and opening my drawer, I take out my mothers ring. She gasps when she sees it.

Lying back down, I cover her mouth so she’ll let me speak.

“I’m not asking you to marry…yet. You heard me say yet, right?” She nods so I continue, “This was my mom’s ring and I want you to wear it as a promise ring for now. Because regardless of what I’ve gotten up to in the past I want something on your finger to show every other fucker that you belong to me. I want everyone to know how serious I am about you. I want you to know that I’m promising to love, honor and cherish you,” I smile, “until we say those words in front of a justice of the peace once you’ve finished your studies.” She giggles beneath my hand. “Stop that. And I mean the first course you’re doing. I’m sure we can manage a wedding between one course and your doctorate.”

“How—”

“You’re too clever baby to not study to a higher level.”

“I can’t believe all this,” she says.

I slide the ring on her wedding finger and think take that you fuckers, she’s mine for all time.

“I love you. You know me like no one else.”

“I love you too baby, which means you have to protect me from Reece when he sees you wearing my mom’s ring.”

“He’ll be fine, and I’m going to be okay later and ready to have you inside me again.”

“You’re an impatient little thing.”

“No I’m not. I’ve just discovered how it feels to finally have sex with the man I love.”

“Mara,” I growl.

Smiling, she grabs my head and places a sloppy kiss on my face. “You’re going to fuck me at the carnival,” she informs me before rolling from the bed and walking to the bathroom.

Rolling onto my back, I try to figure out if she’s serious or not. Surely she can’t mean that. The carnival is only a couple of blocks away and we have a perfectly good bed here. And there is no way she’s showing her attributes to every Tom, Dick and Harry. She’s trying to get me going again. Isn’t she?

Looking down my body, my cock jerks against my stomach already starting to swell again with arousal for the sassiest girl I’ve ever known.

Chapter Thirty-Three

Mara

“Hey Donovan,” I shout over to where he’s standing talking to Ryder while I savor the warm, pink, fluffy cotton candy he bought me.

“Yeah, babe.”

“Will you come and make out with me on the Ferris wheel?”

He does a double take at my words and grins while Ryder shakes his head at him laughing.

Ryder and

Dahlia arrived a couple of hours ago after Reece called them to get their butts to Orange Beach. I’m glad as well. Since they’ve been here, Dahlia looks to be happier than I’ve seen her. I’m not too sure whether that has anything to do with Ryder or the fact she’s away from everything back home. I’m hoping it’s because she’s here having fun with us, and Ryder though. Even though I can’t quite work out their relationship. Every now and again, he’ll touch her back or arm, but nothing more. Perhaps a push together might get them seeing more action.

I grin liking this idea. I’ve never played matchmaker before so this could be fun.

“What are you grinning at? Looking so lost in thought,” Donovan asks moving in close with his hands going to my hips.
