Laughing, “She certainly did.” I put my hand to her face in a caress, pulling her close for a sweet loving kiss. “We need to decorate the tree, so we can get back for dinner.”

“We’ve just had lunch, how long do you think it’ll take us to decorate the tree?”

With a huge grin on my face, “Who says we’re going to be spending all afternoon decorating the tree?”

“Hmm, I like the way you think. Actually, I was thinking of ringing Mom and telling her we wouldn’t be home for dinner, so we can stay here until real late. What do you think?”

“I think that’s a wonderful idea. Are you sure though?” I ask, slightly worried. I really don’t want anyone getting wind of what we’re doing together. At least until I know whether or not her feelings for me, are the same as mine for her.

“I just want to be with you.” She says.

“Okay, ring your Mom.”

Moving off me she goes to retrieve her phone from her purse and starts to ring her folks. While she’s doing this, I watch her pace backwards and forwards in the small kitchen. She’s gorgeous, with her long dark hair, slim curvy figure, her long killer legs and that mouth. Hell, I can’t get enough of her.

Bree hangs up and turns back to me, “Mom says to tell you to drive slowly as snow’s forecast for later.”

I stand up and move like a predator towards Bree, who sees me coming and just stands still, a saucy grin on her face, as I pick her up in my arms, “Hold on baby.”

Chapter 8

BREE

Seeing Gabe start walking towards me with such a heated look on his face has my nipples hardening and my panties wet. I may not have had sex with anyone before Gabe, but I’ve kissed a few guys, and not once did I react to them the way I do to him. He’s my everything.

I wrap my arms around his neck as he picks me up in his arms and carries me to his bedroom. Just about to walk through the bedroom door the phone rings. “Shit. I’m not answering.”

“Gabe we have to. Mom knows we’re here.” Cursing, he puts me down and jogs over to answer the phone. I lean against the door frame watching him. He’s the hottest guy I’ve ever seen. Tall, lean with plenty of muscle and not an ounce of fat. As he answers the phone he glances at me and frowns. I can’t hear what he’s saying, but his frown’s getting deeper as he runs his hand through his hair in frustration.

Putting the phone back on the stand, he leans on the counter and looks across to me. “Your Mom wants me to bring you home.” I look at him as I start walking over to where he’s resting. “Your Aunt Maggie has shown up with Ruby and Paul. She wants to see her niece.”

Hearing this makes my stomach drop. I love my cousin, but Ruby is only a year older than me and has been after Gabe since we were kids. Gabe seeing the worried look on my face pulls me into his arms. “It’ll be okay babe. We can spend time together later. But I think we need to get to the house.” Placing a quick kiss to my forehead, he leads me to the door to put our coats on.

I just stand and watch him put his winter gear on; he suddenly realizes I’m not co-operating and stops to look at me. “Ruby’s going to be making a play for you.” I blurt out.

He laughs! How the hell can he find that funny? “The only person I’m interested in is you. Not Ruby. Not anyone else, but you. She may flirt with me, but I’ll ignore her like I always do. You’re the only one I want. Please remember that okay?”

I just nod as he helps me into my coat and hat then drags me out through the front door. “Gabe?”

Turning to look at me, he takes my face in his hands and kisses my lips in a very light sweet kiss. “Come on babe, it’s freezing out here.” Climbing into his truck, he turns the heater up high as we slowly start to drive up the lane to my parent’s house. All I can think about is how I’m going to combat my jealous streak at the thought of Ruby flirting with Gabe.

The snow’s falling heavier now as we pull up outside the house. Taking a deep breath, we both exit the truck and walk as best we can towards the kitchen door. Gabe takes my arm on the steps to make sure I don’t fall and then we’re in the kitchen surrounded by everyone.

My Aunt Maggie runs over to us and pulls me into her for a huge hug, telling me how much she’s missed me. Then Ruby wraps her arms around me, all the time eyeing Gabe up, who’s oblivious while he hugs Aunt Maggie. “He’s still hot Bree.” She whispers to me.

This is going to be one very long afternoon. “He always is.” I reply, as I turn away trying to ignore the questioning look she throws at me. Paul pulls me into his arms for a cuddle. He’s my favorite and not just because of Ruby’s ‘thing’ about Gabe. When we were kids, Paul was always the one to smooth my feathers when ever Ruby and I got into it. Ruby always used to know which buttons to push, even before Gabe became part of the equation.

I pull out of Paul’s arms and look across to Gabe, who has Ruby wrapped around him. I end up blinking away tears before anyone can see. Gabe does though, he may have her in his arms, but it’s me he’s looking at.

Pulling myself together, I turn and take the seat next to Aunt Maggie. “You look really good Bree. That LA air must agree with you.”

“Yeah it does, but there’s nothing like home. I didn’t realize how much I’d missed my family and home until I arrived back here,” I tell Aunt Maggie. Gabe pulls the chair out next to me and sits down with Ruby sitting on his other side. Out of the corner of my eye, I can see Ruby leaning in close to him, whispering in his ear.

“Ruby? Behave yourself and leave the poor guy alone.” Thank you Aunt Maggie!

“I’m just talking to Gabe.” Ruby replies, snuggling more into him. I’m seconds away from losing it and if she doesn’t stop fawning all over him, I’ll lose it sooner rather than later.

Gabe obviously sensing my upset puts his hand under the table onto my thigh and squeezes. I slide my hand under with his; we lace our fingers together. I now feel as though I can breathe again.
