Climbing out of bed to a bit of a chill, I quickly dress in my favorite comfortable jeans. Which I happen to know make Gabe drool when I wear them, I also add a t-shirt and jumper. The jumper was a Christmas present from Gabe two years ago. It’s well worn.

Going downstairs and entering the kitchen, I find both my parents, Gabe, Travis and Beth sat at the kitchen table drinking in silence. There’s also Beth’s boyfriend, Simon. Feeling as though I’m interrupting something, I look around and meet Gabe’s eyes feeling so much love for him. Deciding to break the silence, “Morning, what did I interrupt?”

“Beth and Simon are trying to explain what he’s doing here, when he went home last night. But for some reason appears to have slept in her room all night.”

“Oh…. Mom she’s twenty two.” I say trying not to laugh. This is why Beth has been talking about moving out. The last few times we spoke on the phone she did nothing, but complain about lack of privacy. Walking over to Gabe, I wink and smile at him, “Morning.” I whisper.

“Morning. Here, I’ve just made you this. I was about to send a search party up for you.”

“Ha, you’re a funny guy today. It’s not that late. All that fresh air yesterday tired me out.”

“Oh, is that what it was?” Smiling at him, feeling so happy, I take a bite of the bagel he’s made me.

“Wouldn’t get too happy sis, you’re next?” Travis says.

Then grinning at me and Gabe he says, “Mom was pissed when you disappeared with Beth yesterday. She had a date lined up for you at supper.” Travis whispers.

Hell. Seeing my eyes go wide, Travis laughs and heads out of the kitchen. “See you all later.”

“Bye.”

“You will not do this again Beth, do I make myself clear?” Dad tells her.

“Yes.” Getting up from the table, both Beth and Simon slope off into the lounge and by the looks of things Beth is actually laughing.

“Now, what do you have to say for yourself?” Mom asks me looking awfully stern. Looking at her for a minute, I’m sure she finds this amusing, but before I can question her, the look has gone and she’s replaced it with pissed again.

“Mom, I’m twenty four years old. We just went to Simon’s house before I hit Ruby, she was driving us both crazy and we did text you before you started supper.”

“That isn’t the point.”

“Then what is Mom?”

“There was a very nice young man here to meet you at supper.”

Sighing, “Mom, I don’t want to meet all the bachelors from here to Timbuktu. Please stop okay, no more introductions. Promise me?” I’m in love with the man standing so close to me now and don’t want anyone else.

“I’m just thinking about you honey.”

I walk over to Mom and pull her into me for a hug, “I love you too Mom, but I hate that you keep trying to fix me up. I’m not interested.”

“Okay, I promise to stop.”

I kiss my Mom on the cheek, “Thank you.”

“Do you want some breakfast honey?”

“I’m fine thanks. Gabe made me a bagel.”

I turn to the window to look out at the snow and just catch my Mom frowning – not sure why. The snow is pretty deep outside and looks amazing, “Hey Gabe, do you want to go sledging?”

I turn back to look in his direction, “Are you sure that’s what you want to do? It’s kind of bad outside.” Gabe replies. He’s so funny and probably dreading the thought of going out in the cold snow sledging.

Laughing, I walk over to him and poke him in the stomach, “Hey.” He says, catching my hand.

“I remember you, always wanting to stay inside nice and warm instead of coming out to play in the snow. You’re not getting off lightly this time, Gabe.” God, he looks hot as I stand in front of him, teasing him, his eyes glittering full of heat for me. I need to walk away. I wink at him then turn to head towards the kitchen door before I wrap myself around him. Is it so wrong to want the arms of the guy I’m in love with, wrapped around me?

“Okay that’s settled. Let me just put my boots on then we can go.”
