Laughing, “I think that answers your question.”

I walk over to Gabe who has already added cream and sugar into my cup, I move in closer to him and pat his stomach. “Are you hungry?”

“Yeah, I could eat something.” Winking, he turns to sit at the table.

Looking at Mom, I’m sure I caught a smile as she turns her back to retrieve a large pot from the oven.

I take a seat next to Gabe at the table, “That smells good, Mom. What is it?”

“I’ve made Gabe’s favorite, Beef Stew and Dumplings. I figured with everyone out in this weather a more substantial meal would be needed at lunch.”

Gabe grins, “What a pity we’re the only ones here then.”

Waving the serving spoon at Gabe, “You are not going to eat all this.” Turning, she winks at me which nearly has my eyes popping out of my head, “Even if you have just worked up an appetite with my daughter.”

At this Gabe starts to choke on his coffee, I automatically reach out to rub his back, “You okay?”

All he can manage right now is a nod as he continues to cough. “I’m not blind Gabe. You’ve had it bad for my girl for a very long time. Bree has also had her eyes on you for nearly as long. I love you like a son and you’re already a part of this family and no matter what happens with Bree, you always will be.”

Sighing, “Travis and Beth look at you as their brother and David considers you his son. I’m not too sure how they’ll react to you both being together. Perhaps you better wait until after Christmas to make the announcement, okay?”

I take hold of Gabe’s hand and hold on tight, “Okay Mom. Thanks.”

“I don’t know what to say other than I love your daughter with all my heart, I’ll never intentionally do anything to hurt her.”

“I know you won’t Gabe. That’s why I’m happy you’re both finally together.”

Moving out of the chair she serves up three plates of delicious food with potatoes.

“Now I’ve surprised you both with my wonderful insight. You better eat up before it gets cold.”

“Yes Mom.”

“Yes ma’am.”

“And I’ll have no cheek from you, just because I approve of you being with my daughter,” she says with a chuckle.

Grinning, Gabe starts eating again, while he keeps looking at me, while I’m constantly looking at him.

Moving one of his hands underneath the table he places it on my thigh and just leaves it there as I thread my fingers through his. I love touching him and just want to stay wrapped up in him.

After drying all the dishes and putting them away for my Mom, I look at Gabe who’s looking at me rather hotly. Walking over to him, I put my hands in his hair as he puts an arm around my waist and just lean into him.

“Why don’t you both go and watch TV in the lounge while no one else is around. I’ll give you a heads up when someone’s coming.”

I smile, “Thanks Mom. Come on Gabe.”

Pulling him into the lounge and then pushing him down into one of the chairs, I climb on top of him and cuddle up in his lap. We both fall asleep with Gabe holding me close.

Chapter 14

BREE

Around eleven the following day, I look up just as Gabe walks into the kitchen. He stops dead. No doubt, because I’m probably wearing more flour than what’s in the mixing bowl.

I can see him trying to hide his grin, but he fails, miserably. He quickly looks around the kitchen then walks over to me and using his hand, lifts my chin as he places a light kiss to my lips, “Good morning babe, I really missed you.”

Moving in closer to Gabe, I put my lips back to his, hearing him groan as the kiss deepens. Gabe puts his hands on my hips, bringing me in even closer as he sucks my tongue into his mouth, “Mmm, you’re going to be covered in flour.” I tell him, not really caring as he feels too good against me.
