“Bree Elizabeth Keller, I hope, I didn’t hear you curse?” I look over to Mom who’s standing across the room with her hands on her hips trying not to laugh.

“No ma’am.” I say, offering a cheeky grin.

“Hmm.”

Beth starts getting impatient, “Do you think we could do presents now…. Please?”

“God sis, you’re just like a little kid.”

Seeing that Dad now has everything organized, we all settle back down as he hands everyone the presents with our names on.

Beth makes me laugh just ripping into her present from Mom and Dad while I take my time.

“Hey sis, what did you get from Mom and Dad?”

“An organizer, although I wasn’t expecting anything as elegant as this one is…. What about you Beth?”

She has tears in her eyes, “Mom got me the bag I’ve wanted for a while, but couldn’t afford.”

Hugging her sister, “Wow, we’re so lucky…. So is there going to be a third engagement?”

“Oh my God, no, I’m not getting married until I’m fifty.”

I shove Beth over, “Yeah right. You just wait until love hits you. We’ll see what you’re saying then.”

“Listen up. We have a guest coming for Christmas dinner. I want you all on your best behavior, and Beth, you better put some clothes on. I don’t want the new Doctor having a coronary with you in your pajamas.” Mom tells us.

Turning to me she mouths ‘new Doctor’. I laugh, “He’s hot sis, better look your best.”

“Who’s hot?”

Laughing, “Gabe, trust you to only hear that part of our conversation. I was just telling her the new Doctor is hot.” Turning back to Beth, “Mom tried to set me up with him not realizing I was already with Gabe. She’ll be fixing you up with him now.”

I can’t help laughing at the look on Beth' face; she stands and collects all her things together disappearing up the stairs, probably to get dressed ready for Zack.

Gabe pulls me up from the floor, where I ended up while opening presents, “Let’s help your Dad tidy up, so we can watch some Christmas television.”

I give him a quick kiss, “Okay Gabe. I guess that means let’s help Dad clean up, so you can watch Chris

tmas television while I’m in the kitchen being Moms slave.”

Laughing as he kisses me on the nose, “Of course babe.” Smacking me on the butt as he walks past, I quickly get him back by pinching him on the butt while he bends over to pick some wrapping paper up.

Grinning, “Gabe would you mind taking our things upstairs out of the way before you become a couch potato for the day?”

I then offer him a mischievous grin and shout through to the kitchen, “Mom. Gabe and Travis have volunteered to wash up after dinner.”

I laugh on my way into the kitchen to the protest of both guys.

“Hey Mom, what do you want me to do?” As Mom turns around she just smiles with tears in her eyes. “Oh Mom, what’s wrong?”

Wiping her eyes, “It’s nothing. This is the best Christmas I can ever remember having. My eldest child is engaged to a lovely young woman and my eldest daughter is engaged to Gabe, who both your Dad and I love as though he was one of our own. Nothing could make me happier knowing you’re going to be with Gabe.”

Crying now myself, “Oh Mom, you’re the only parents Gabe’s known and hearing you say that means the world to me and it will him.”

“I know that honey.” Laughing now, “He’s been in love with you for years. I can still remember his face when you came downstairs in your prom dress when you where just seventeen.”

Sighing, she continues, “Youngest in your class. I thought he was going to kill your date, sling you over his shoulder and carry you off to have his wicked way with you.”
