According to the instructions I should have the result in a few minutes. So getting down to business, I pee on the stick and keep my fingers crossed.

My period is eight days late and I’ve never been late in my life before. I’m really hoping that I’m pregnant with Cade’s child. I only hope he’ll be as happy as I will be.

Closing my eyes and taking a deep breath, I turn the stick over before opening my eyes.

Oh my god. Oh my god.

Pregnant!

Shit, do I rush in and tell Cade or wait until we’re married?

Tell him now.

Taking another deep breath, trying not to let my excitement show, I walk back toward the bed. I look over to Cade, who’s lying on his side, wide-awake, propped on an elbow and staring at me with deep love and affection.

“Come back to bed. I just want to hold you.”

“That would be nice.” I climb back into bed and into Cade’s arms.

Tell him now.

“Cade?”

“Yes?”

“You know how we haven’t been using birth control?” At this he stills and tilts my chin up to look into my eyes.

I see all his love for me, which gives me the courage I need to tell him. “I’m pregnant. We’re going to have a baby.”

Silence. He presses his forehead against mine, and whispers, “Thank you. I love you. You’ve made me the happiest guy in the world today, not only are you going to become my wife, but we are going to have a baby, too.” He closes his eyes and when he opens them, they seem to be swimming in tears.

“Are you really all right with me being pregnant?” I try to hold back my own tears of joy.

“Oh, sweetheart, I’m more than all right. I just hope it’s a little girl who looks just like her mama.”

I’m crying openly now so Cade pulls me into his arms, stroking my back. “I’m so happy Cade, and I feel as though I’m dreaming.”

“If we’re dreaming then I don’t want to wake up.”

“I’m so excited I could burst. Rona Matthews. I like the sound of that.”

“Not as much as I do.” Cade kisses me.

Cade

I’m going to be a dad again and this time it’s with Rona. The woman I love with all my heart.

Standing under the wedding pergola, decorated with hundreds of fresh flowers, my stomach is in a tight knot awaiting Rona’s arrival.

I haven’t seen her since this morning when she was whisked away by two of the resort staff, taking her for the full ‘bride to be’ treatments. Whatever they are.

Before we left Jackson Hole, I’d asked Rona what she wanted me to wear today. She chose white linen trousers with a granddad style linen shirt in pale green. To match my eyes, she said. I’ve had a bit of trouble getting the flower for my buttonhole to stay put because I’m not wearing a blazer, but providing I don’t make any sudden movements, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Looking back toward the entrance of the pergola, I see a vision in white, offering me a nervous smile.

I’m so lucky. She looks amazing.

Walking toward me, I can’t take my eyes from her. She’s wearing a long white dress, fitted to her curves, its loose neck falling between her breasts.
