She disappears forever.

I'm dying.

Tears ruin my face. My heart feels cold as I lose more blood.

"Mother, make it stop," I moan.

A blinding light shines down on me. It burns so bright that it seems to pierce my eyes. I try to lower my eyelids back down, but the power of the light takes me by surprise.

The light consumes all that I am.

But just when I think I'm about to die, I can see Odin standing in front of me.

"Is it really you?" I ask.

He nods. "I have come to awaken your spirit," he says.

"Awaken... but I a

m not a god," I mutter.

Closing his eyes, he takes a deep and stoic breath. "Maybe there's more inside you than you care to admit," he says.

He lowers his cane onto my forehead and starts to pray in an ancient language. The light grows stronger around us. The force within me solidifies.

Something inside of me is changing.

The flesh on my back grows strained. My shoulder blades shift. I lurch forward and cry out in incredible pain.

Odin's prayer gets louder and more intense. The light takes over our bodies.

"Let Valhalla and the heavens be your guide. You have earned your wings," he shouts.

A lightning bolt strikes between us, and the earth starts to rumble.

Two black wings shoot out of my back. I spread them open and stand.

Odin disappears. The light fades. I can see blue as it dims.

Suddenly, I appear on a cliff and watch as the tide rolls in from the sea.

Lucifer has failed to kill me because my body is not me. I am a being of energy, a fragment of light. I can see the past, present, and future.

We're going to win.

I look to the sky and fly high into the air. I pierce through Earth's atmosphere, soaring into the blackness of space. I used to think of the universe as chaos, but now I can see the truth.

As I soar through the cosmos, the stars start to align as one complex tapestry. Time and space form into one.

I see everything in its true state and am humbled by the sight.

I start to understand that we are what we choose to be when darkness takes over. When the light seems at its faintest point.

I chose goodness, but not out of pride or self-interest. I didn't do it because it was going to be an easier path. I chose it because someone led me to believe in it. That someone gave me the space to see its truth.

That person was Ash.

He can't be a devil.
