“Thanks,” she said. “Did you not go home and change?”

“Do I not look good?”

“It’s not that. I just figured you’d get some time to get off your feet for a bit?”

“I’ve been sitting at my desk all day. I’m perfectly fine,” I said.

“You know what this reminds me of?”

“Your birthday party,” I said with a grin.

“Man, that thing was awesome. Is it weird to still want to thank you for that?”

“Maybe a bit. But I’m glad it made that kind of an impression on you.”

“It did. There were a lot of things you did that made an impression.”

“Like what?” I asked.

“Like your cooking. The first time I ever tasted it, I was floored. You should’ve been a chef.”

“Cooking is how I release stress.”

“That and women,” she said with a grin.

“That and women,” I said. “Cooking gives me full control of what happens. If I screw it up, it’s on me. I can measure out the seasonings and control the heat. It’s good for me.”

“Having control relaxes you?” she asked.

“It doesn’t for you?”

“Not at all. Letting go and just experiencing things is relaxing for me.”

“Guess we make a good pair then,” I said with a smirk.

She looked up at me as I threw the rest of my beer back. I could feel her eyes on my face, studying me like I had been studying her not long ago. I knew what she was thinking. I knew where her mind was going. It was going back to the exact place it had all those years ago. I watched her neck tint with a flush out of the corner of my eye. If she was trying to hide it, she was doing a terrible job of it.

Which meant I got to have a look at the effect I had on her.

“You want another beer? Or you want to dance a bit?” I asked.

“I’d love to dance,” Katie said. “Come on. Let’s go.”

I took her hand and pulled her to the floor just as everyone was gathering for a line dance. I stood beside her and held her hand within mine, quietly walking her through the steps to the next song. She watched my feet and mimicked my movements, then the song came on and away we went.

And the dance was fantastic.

Her summer dress was swirling around her legs, and her boots were ticking along the hardwood flooring. She kept her hand in mine, holding it tightly to steady herself. The smile that bloomed on her face lit up her eyes, and her skin sparkled with the strobing of the lights. Katie was having a blast, and I was having a blast alongside her.

Just like I’d had all those years ago.

We danced through four songs before we took a drink break. We slung back two more beers, then went to sweat it off on the dance floor. We went back and forth like that for two solid hours. Drinking and sweating and dancing. We went from line dancing to slow dancing, and there were even a few songs where her hips started grinding against mine.

And the drunker I got, the harder my cock became.

My brothers got to sneak in a few dances, but she always came back to me. My arm would wrap around her waist, and I’d grind to the beat of the song with her, feeling how she pressed back into me. My nose would travel the length of her neck, and her hands would reach back for my hair. She was an intoxicating woman, and as the party wound down, I could feel the sweat dripping down my back.

“I’m gonna need a shower after this,” Katie said.
