I huffed. “And what about my life here?”

“Then I’ll come down to see you. I don’t think you understand. I’m willing to do anything to see if things can work between us. Are you?”

All I ever wanted was a relationship, and now the opportunity of having one was staring at me right in the face. Was I a fool to dive in and see what happened between Darian and me? If I declined would I always regret it? And what would that mean for my life here in the mountains?

I lifted my hands to the sides of Darian’s face and pressed my lips against his as if I could find the answer in his kiss. Why was I so afraid to make a decision?

This was all I ever wanted. A chance.

Darian leaned back, searching my face, worry lined across his brow. I smiled and nodded.

“Let’s give it a try.”

EPILOGUE

It wasn’t long after Darian left that I heard from him again. He called the moment his car hit the highway, and we talked until he got home. We talked every single day for six months, saw each other on our days off, and we even traveled to new places together so I could see more parts of the world.

Six months later he proposed to me and I said yes. How could I not? Darian was the one I’d been looking for all of those lonely nights. And he loved me back tenfold. Over the next year we got married, and for a wedding gift, Darian bought me a vacation home back in Canmore where we met.

Even though I left my old life to be with him, he never made me give up the things I loved. But with Darian I’ve learned to have new experiences. And whenever I miss the whitewater rapids in the mountains, we go for a visit.

You can make a big difference!
