“G? I thought you said you didn’t want to ride the scooter.”

“I don’t. Do you see me on a scooter?”

“It’s a long distance, G,” I whisper, tears threatening to spill from my eyes.

“I’m walking up the aisle, and I’m giving my only sister to a man that even I have to admit is a good one.”

“I love you G.”

“I love you, too, but after the wedding, you’re going to have to tell me exactly why you invited Millie down here.”

“What? I wanted her to be here for my wedding.”

“Bullshit,” he mutters.

“It’s true. I really like Millie.”

G shakes his head but doesn’t argue with me. I’m not lying, but I might have also hoped that if G saw her here, he’d make a move. That doesn’t seem to be working.

My brother is nothing if not stubborn.

“Let’s get you hitched. I may look damn good—”

“You do,” I agree, overwhelmed with emotions as my brother pulls me into his arms.

“That doesn’t mean it’s easy, though,” he admits, and I lean up to kiss his cheek.

“I love you, G.”

“I love you, too, little sister. I always will.”

The wedding march begins to play, and I link my arm with G’s, helping to take a little off his weight.

“You know, if I’m married, it’s against the rules for you to beat my husband up,” I murmur as all eyes turn to us.

“Hmmm…” G responds, which is really no answer at all.

My gaze lifts, and I look up to see Jack standing by the archway at the end of the aisle waiting on me. It’s an arch made of evergreen branches and twinkling Christmas lights. Toi and her daughter are wearing red dresses, while her son has on a black tux with a red rose in the lapel that matches mine and Toi’s bouquet. It’s completely perfect—but not as perfect as the man waiting for me.

Jack’s smiling at me. My heart squeezes in my chest. He’s so handsome, but it’s more than that. I can feel his love for me with just the heat of his gaze.

After the mess with Lenny, I thought I was done with men.

Now, I know that until Jack came into my life, I’d never truly known anything about love and relationships. Jack taught me the difference between make believe and real love.

The closer I get to him the more I realize that I finally am exactly where I was meant to be all along. My brother kisses me and Jack takes my hand, his lips grazing my forehead as I turn to him.

“Merry Christmas, Midnight. I’ve been waiting on you,” he whispers.

“I’m here, Jack. I’ll always be here,” I promise—right before he pulls me in closer.

We’re not to that part yet, but when he kisses me, taking my mouth passionately, I don’t mind one bit. In fact, I kiss him back. His hand moves down to my ass. I don’t stop him. I like it too much. All the guests start hollering. His brothers in the club are cheering us on.

When we break apart, I grin at him.

“Let’s get this over with so we can start our honeymoon,” I murmur.

“Fuck, baby, you really are perfect,” he says, and I look at the preacher, hoping I stop giggling before we get to the I dos.

The End

Epilogue

Three Weeks After The Wedding

“My brother is an idiot.”

“Midnight—”

“Did you see Millie tonight?!?!” Drew asks, clearly upset.

“I did, but baby this isn’t something you can get involved in.”

She’s upset because her brother is pissed at her and Marcum.

Drew invited Millie down for her wedding and Marcum decided to offer her a job to be Ghost’s nurse while he got back on his feet. He did so after hearing how much our brother wanted the pretty little nurse. It helped that she had great qualifications. She’s also in love with my brother. It’s easy to see. Hell, she wears her heart on her sleeve. I’m convinced that’s the only reason she would have quit the job she had in North Carolina and move down to Florida. It seemed like the perfect solution—until Ghost screamed at Millie to get the hell out, making her run out of the room.

I look at my wife hardly believing that she’s completely and utterly mine now. We’re lying in bed, her dark hair fanned around her like a glorious crown.

“He’s an idiot,” she snaps.

I wrap my hand around both her wrists and bring them up over her head, pinning them against the bed, moving my body over her.

“How about we talk about something other than your brother?” I suggest. There’s nothing she can do to help there. After seeing how Ghost reacted to Millie, I’m not sure there’s anything any of us can do. Ghost is damaged—and I’m not just talking physically. My brother has something going on with him.

Drew lets out a sigh but looks at me. “What do you want to talk about?” she finally laughs, spreading her legs wider for me.
