“What seems to be the problem?” Annabella asked and Mica looked at her with pleading eyes as she explained the situation. A glance up towards the guy, who gave her the once over, and then at the table of men, gaining their attention, she tried to calm the situation.

“Why don’t I have Mica get you another drink, and then a round on the house? Will that resolve the problem, sir?” She asked the big guy. He licked his lower lip and then reached out and caressed her arm.

“Aiden, let Annabella have a seat. I think the situation is resolved.” Ched Maloney said to him and Aiden stepped aside and offered his seat to Annabella.

“That isn’t necessary.” She said and looked back towards the bar and towards Lucca and Griska and was shocked to see that guy Commerce as well as the other m

en from that first night she showed up here for the interview. She couldn’t help but to search for Mr. Sokolov and she thought she spotted him where Dante was but then Ched took her hand and she had no choice but to take a seat. She crossed her legs and then made sure that her top didn’t gape open. It wasn’t exactly the kind of dress you wore to sit down in. It didn’t reveal so much when she stood up.

Ched’s eyes went towards the gap in her top, and then to her eyes.

“We come here often, and I can tell you’re doing an excellent job.” He said to her.

“Well I appreciate that.” She replied holding his gaze. The man was definitely a good-looking guy. If she had to guess she would say he was in his thirties.

He placed his arm over the back of her chair as the music got louder and the group behind the table roared with laughter. She tightened up and leaned away slightly, even though his arm didn’t touch her.

“How do you like working for Mr. Mulcheck?” he asked her.

“I like it. It’s a very nice place and the patrons seem friendly.” She said to him. He smiled softly and moved his arm off her chair. The more she talked to him the nicer he seemed to be, and then the other men were talking to her as well.

“You weren’t here on Monday or Tuesday.” Aiden said to her. She glanced up at him over her shoulder.

“I only work part time right now.”

“Part time? You live nearby?” Ched asked.

“No, I commute.” Mica came over with their drinks so Annabella stood up. “I need to get back to work. I hope you enjoy the rest of your evening. Let me know if there’s anything else you need.”

“Annabella.” She looked across the table to the man who had remained quiet while she spoke to Ched. He was very attractive, with light brown hair, and deep blue eyes. He wore a navy blue dress shirt with the top two buttons undone and a gold chain around his neck. When he smiled she could see the dimple in his cheek. She could feel the attraction.

“My name is Vincent.” He reached over the table to shake her hand and she bent slightly to shake his. She felt a spark of interest.

“Ever get a night off, and you and your friends are looking for a good time, great music, come hang at my family’s place.” He told her then nodded to the guy next to him who took out a business card from his suit jacket pocket and handed it to her with a wink.

She looked at the card and the design in burgundy lettering.

“You hear of Carlotto’s? It’s a few blocks from here.”

She looked up from the card. “No, I don’t think I know the place.”

“You should come check it out sometime when you’re off work. It’s busy every night of the week and a lot of action. Great music, live bands, and upscale like this. Bring some friends and say you and your friends are guests of mine and stop in.” She smiled. “I appreciate that. Thank you, Vincent.”

“You’re very welcome Annabella, and I hope to see you there. Maybe next week?” he asked. She nodded.

“I will ask my friends. They’ve been harassing me about hanging out and coming into the city. I’ll see who’s available. I need to get going. Enjoy, everyone.” She said and glanced at all the men at the table and then to Ched. His expression was flirty and she quickly headed through the crowd and towards the bar area again.

“Why is she talking to Carlotto and Maloney?” Dante asked Griska.

“She’s doing her job. The patrons who frequent Gordon’s know her already. They like her.”

“They’re being awfully friendly. Could it be she knows them already?” Dante asked feeling suspicious still.

“Definitely not. She’s a good person, Dante. The men are so friendly because they honestly want her. She’s declined so many dates. She’s a beautiful, charismatic young woman and she is great at her job. I’m considering offering her full time employment but it’s only been a few weeks.”

“You will need to discuss that with the boss.”
