Of course they all were practically drooling over Vincent and she couldn’t help but to chuckle.

“Some of my friends are around. You remember Ranger, right?” He asked her as Ranger appeared, looking at her friends, smiling and then waving his hand towards some other guys. In a matter of few seconds they had a crowd forming and were talking up a storm. “You look absolutely stunning in this dress.”

She stepped back, her hip against the chair and he held her by her lower back as he stared down into her eyes.

“Thank you. So tell me about the place. I’ve never been here before.” She asked, having to look away from him.

He was totally flirting with her and once again she felt a bit guilty and that aggravated her so she allowed him to guide her through the place to show her around. When they went to the bar she ordered a martini. She needed to not feel so tense, or hung up on this guilty feeling she had. Vincent ordered a scotch on the rocks and they clinked glasses.

“To a good time tonight.”

She nodded and then held his gaze as they took sips.

She then looked out towards the dance floor and sure enough her friends were there. The music was kind of loud, typical of a nightclub, the base so deep she could feel it in her chest as the music played, and so when Vincent spoke to her he leaned down close to her ear.

“So how do you like working at Gables?” he asked.

“I like it a lot. Everyone is friendly.”

“You only work a few nights though, right?”

“Yes, it’s part time for now.” She said, having to raise her voice.

She would be hoarse in no time. As she watched her friends dancing, the bar pretty crowded, he slid his arm around her waist and stood behind her, talking to her over her shoulder and against her ear.

“Why don’t they hire you full time? Is it because Lucca is there?” he asked.

She turned slightly to look up at him. His deep blue eyes drew her in. “I guess so, but between the hours and the tips I get from people it’s worked out fine.”

“You don’t live in the city though, right?”

“No, I commute.”

“That’s insane. How do you do it getting out so late?”

“Well I walk down the street a couple of blocks to the all night café, have something to eat then wait for the bus that will head to the train station and then first train to Westchester. That’s where I park my car.” She took a sip from her martini, and was already feeling it. She hadn’t drank alcohol in so long. She was always the designated driver, but not tonight.

“You must be exhausted. Have you thought about renting a place in the city nearby?”

“Too much money, but I have a couple of friends who have places so if I really need to crash I could call them.”

“Friends from college?” he asked, gazing at her chest, then back into her eyes.

“A couple of guys I know.”

“Ahh, old lovers?” he asked, and squeezed her a little closer against him.

She chuckled and pulled back. “Definitely not. Just friends, however they are a bit flirty so I only want to use that option as a last resort, you know what I mean? Some guys are just after one thing.” She said to him, holding his gaze.

He chuckled as he eased up on his hold. “Perhaps they’re mesmerized by your beauty and they just want to keep you close?” he suggested and licked his lower lip.

“Hmm, you think?” She countered then took a sip from her drink and he chuckled.

“Would you be interested in getting a second job at a different club working the nights you don’t work at Gables?” he asked her and she was shocked. She turned around to face him.

“What?”
