“That isn’t going to happen, Annabella. We all see how the man looks at you, and can’t keep his hands off of you. He’s your man as much as you’re his woman. Don’t let stupid things like an “acceptable” amount of time dating first, get in the way of being with the man you love. It will all work out. Now let’s talk about security and being accepting to your guard’s orders as well.”

“What do you mean their orders?”

“There will be times that they tell you no about doing something or going somewhere or even moving from a spot. It’s because they’re constantly watching out for you and there could be potential danger. They wear earpieces. Can hear orders from Dante or Ivan through them, especially at public events where more people are around. You accept it without argument and when you get safely home you thank them. It’s that simple.”

“But I’ll want to know why they give the order.”

“No.” Louisa shook her head and looked serious. “You can’t do that. That’s the part about accepting without question. Like one of the men who works for Ivan says wait here, or follow me, or if there’s trouble and one says this way to safety. I’ve got you. You go.”

“I don’t know about this.”

“You’ll figure it out.”

“What about not asking questions when it comes to where he’s been, and who he was with?”

“That’s a no brainer. You don’t ask.” She looked away, her mind on the conversation she overheard Dante having about the meeting tonight and about Cassandra being there. She felt instantly jealous, and angry. She saw how the woman acted around Ivan. How she touched him, held onto his arm, threw herself at him just asking for sex. How was she to deal with that?

“Spit it out. What’s on your mind?”

She squinted at Louisa. “Cassandra Holmes.”

“The woman who was all over Ivan that night you got pissed off?”

“She’ll be there at the meeting tonight.”

“So it’s a trust issue you have?” Louisa said taking a sip of her glass of wine. Annabella was about to speak but stopped herself.

“He trusts you and you need to trust him. He chose you. He is staking a public claim to you not hiding you behind closed hotel room doors.”

“Well in mafia movies the gangsters always have mistresses.”

Louisa laughed.

“Hey.” Annabella said and gave her arm a slap.

“I don’t want to be side swiped okay. Like here I am asking these questions, trying to learn to be a good girlfriend and all, and then wham! I get hit out of nowhere with a mistress to compete with. I’m not doing that. No damn way.” She raised her voice and Louisa chuckled and calmed her down.

“He won’t cheat on you or have a mistress. In fact you need to keep in mind that he was a soldier before all this stuff. He never dated any women. Never took one seriously until you. He has five security guys here for you tonight. Five. That woman Cassandra means nothing and guaranteed, Ivan will make sure she knows he is off limits and to not try one damn thing.”

****

Cassandra slid her palm along Ivan’s thigh under the table at the restaurant. The meeting was coming to an end and he was glad. He kept pushing her hand off his leg, giving her the evil eye but she wouldn’t get the message. She was being very aggressive and it annoyed him. What also annoyed him was the instant worry about Annabella’s reaction, and what she might think if she found out Cassandra was being this way. That was new to him. He didn’t give a fuck about what anyone thought. It was another indicator to the seriousness of their relationship.

Dante and even Rustin Yolkov were getting annoyed too. So when they got up and headed out of the place and Cassandra leaned in to kiss Ivan’s cheek goodbye and instead, held onto his shoulders and kissed him, he was shocked and immediately pissed off. He yanked her from him.

“Cassandra what the hell are you doing?”

“I know you want me, Ivan. I don’t care about that waitress you’re screwing. She’s nothing compared to me.” She came at him again, rubbed herself against him.

“Dante.” He said as he pressed her away. Dante grabbed her by her arms.

“Are you fucking kidding me? You’ll chose that nobody, that stupid twit over me? All the money I’ve made you…”

“No, all the money I made you, and you have the nerve to pull this shit. You know what, I’m done with you Cassandra. Should have gotten rid of you a while ago and refused to do business with anyone who uses you. You’re not ever going to be part of any of my business again.” He got into the SUV and Dante gave her a little shove toward her awaiting vehicle.

He couldn’t hear what Cassandra was saying as she yelled toward the SUV, but Dante did and Mirnon too because Mirnon pointed at her in warning.

They took off a moment later and headed home to the penthouse. He could smell her perfume on him and it angered him. He got out his handkerchief and wiped his mouth. He glanced at his watch. 12:50.
