“Oh there’s my little guy,” Honor smiled softly and motioned to Walker for him to come join us outside. He padded forward and I picked him up. The three of us sat together quietly, rocking back and forth on the swinging chair on the veranda, in the sweet breeze.
“So, do you think you’ll be able to get used to California, Soldier Boy?” Honor smiled as she kissed me and sighed happily at the starry night.
“Well,” I said as I thought about my family’s 400-acre ranch that I had just finalized the paperwork on earlier that day, “I’m sure we can work something out.”
