“Donny…”

“Get. Un. Dressed.”

She stands then and swiftly unbuttons her blouse. She shimmies out of it and tosses it onto the other bed. Then she unclasps her bra, and her beautiful breasts fall gently against her chest. The bra joins the blouse on the other bed. Now only her skinny black pants separate her from being naked.

My groin tightens. I’m already hard, but damn it, I get harder.

“The rest of it, Callie. Now.”

CHAPTER ELEVEN

CALLIE

My body erupts in a fiery blaze.

And in a split second, I see the blaze of the bonfire all those years ago.

The bonfire that led to where I am today.

Jordan and I wait.

Rory is running late. She was supposed to have the van—and Pat Lamone—here five minutes ago. The parking lot behind the library. That’s where everyone goes to park, and the police turn a blind eye unless someone complains.

We’re in Jordan’s car. Or rather Uncle Scott and Aunt Lena’s car that she borrowed for the evening under the pretense of us going into town for ice cream. Meeting some friends.

I don’t dare text Rory. Phones are off-limits tonight so that Pat doesn’t have any chance to spy at hers. I have to wait at least half an hour before I check in with her.

“Shit,” Jordan says. “You think she couldn’t get him in the van?”

“Not a chance. Pat Lamone has been trying to get into Rory’s pants for months.”

“I know, but maybe he’ll realize something’s up.”

“Maybe, but his small head will overrule his big one. Trust me.”

I make myself sound more confident than I am. I believe in my sister, but that doesn’t mean something can’t go wrong.

“Look!” Jordan points.

Finally! The van rolls into the parking lot.

“Here comes the call.” I hit the green button, turn on the speaker, and hit mute so Jordan and I can listen in and know if Rory has any trouble.

“Not too many cars here tonight,” Rory says.

“Just as well.” Pat Lamone’s voice. “No one to bother us.”

“I know. I’ve been looking forward to this.”

I want to gag. Damn, Rory is a good actress. She’ll make it in performing. No doubt. With her gorgeous singing voice and acting ability, the world is her stage.

“God, you look hot.” Rory’s voice again.

“Not as hot as you, baby.”

Ugh. Gag again. Jordan is starting to look a little green, even in the dark. We can’t speak. We have to stay very quiet even with the mute button on. It’s important that we hear every word so we know if Rory needs us.

Did she get him to drink the Coke laced with Benadryl? She was supposed to do that before they got to the parking lot.
