CHAPTER TWO

Evelyn

The sound of my alarm going off in the morning woke me up with a start, my eyes flying open in shock as I sat straight up in bed, my heart racing in my chest. My body was hot and sweaty, nervously biting down on my bottom lip as I felt how wet I was between my legs. After seeing the enormous cock of the man who I had saved, it left me feeling hot and bothered, and I dreamed of him touching me, teasing me with the tip of that I wanted to penetrate my body.

For the longest time, I have not felt the warmth of a man’s body against mine since college, and I have never wanted to. Because of my certain lifestyle, it was a turn-off to a lot of men and they would leave me. So instead of trying to find someone to share it with, I turned it off, and I threw myself into my studies, and then into my work. It has worked for me since then, but ever since I laid eyes on the bloodied, injured man, I felt that heat rising inside of me that has laid dormant for so long.

I wonder if he left, I thought to myself as I scrambled out of bed, quickly getting dressed in sweatpants and a baggy t-shirt. It was early enough in the morning that I wasn’t going to have to worry about getting ready for work yet. Heading out of my room, I peeked into the spare bedroom, seeing that the bed was made and he was nowhere to be seen. I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed, my shoulders drooping slightly. I guess I did tell him to leave as soon as he woke up in the morning.

Why did I regret saying that now?

“I made breakfast.” I heard his gruff voice come from behind me.

My head snapped up, and I whipped around to see Graham standing in the doorway, missing his shirt, but he wore my frilly pink apron with pride. There was a spatula in his hand, and his wounds looked like they had been rewrapped. Did he do all this when I was sleeping?

“I thought you had left,” I whispered, seeing how small the apron looked on his chiseled, muscular body.

His lips twitched slightly in a small smile, “Nah, not yet. I’m hungry, and I figured that you would be too. Although I am using your food, I figured it would be some way to say thank you for helping me last night. I’m unsure of what I would have done if you didn’t help me.”

I cautiously walked down the hallway, seeing his eyes were piercing into me, “I can only imagine. Did you figure out who was after you? I’m sure there must’ve been a reason for it.”

I didn’t see any tell-tale sign that he was hiding something, and he turned away from me, “I’m not sure. I’m not going to worry about it either.”

And with that being said, he turned around on his heel and walked back into the kitchen. I quickly followed him, seeing that he was cooking breakfast on the stove. I sat down at the table, eyeing his muscular back. It was strange to see a man in my kitchen, never having had this before. I mean, what woman wouldn’t want to see a sexy ass man in her kitchen?

I couldn’t say that I was complaining.

“Here you go!” Graham stated as he placed a plate full of eggs, bacon, sausage, and toast in front of me, my eyes widening at the sheer amount of food he expected me to eat, “enjoy.”

I poured myself a glass of orange juice, thinking that normally I’d only be able to eat about half of what he gave me. As he made his plate and sat down across from me, I was slightly stunned to see that his plate was nearly twice as big as mine. I’ve never met anyone that could eat that much in one sitting.

“How are you so muscular?” I demanded, feeling like I was going to gain ten pounds just looking, “can you really eat that much?”

He grinned, winking slightly, “trust me, I know a few ways to burn off the calories.”

My cheeks flushed with embarrassment, quickly turned my attention back down to my food. I slowly ate my food, never having been one to like eating with others around, and I could practically feel his eyes looking at me every now and then like he was piercing through me and into my soul. I don’t know why he did that, but it made me feel like there was something more there than there really was.

“This is good!” I complimented him, normally not one to like sunny-side-up eggs, but he made them well, “you must like to make breakfast.”

“It’s the most important meal of the day.” He agreed, almost done with his entire plate, “if you think this is much, you should see how it is when my men and I are having breakfast. You would think we were feeding a big group.”

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, realizing what he had said, “your men?”

He tensed slightly, seemingly realizing what he had said, before shrugging his shoulders, “yeah, I have some people who… work for me.”

I could tell that he wasn’t lying, but he was holding back as well, “if you don’t mind me asking, what do you do for a living?”

“I run a business.” He responded, finishing the food on his plate, “it’s a pretty big one. I have my fair share of enemies, unfortunately, who would like to get me out of their way.”

“Do you think that’s why you got hurt last night?” I asked him curiously, wondering if he was in some kind of danger.
