Iaminabsolute awe when I pull up to the Monroe University campus five days later. I’ve heard people talk about beautiful campuses, but up until now, I thought they all looked relatively similar. This one, though… This one was more than I could’ve imagined with its tall black gates that open to a view of the entire campus surrounded by fir trees in every direction. The blue and red school colors hang from all the gothic style buildings, with the main building looking like it could have been part of the scenery from those wizard movies everyone loves.

I instantly see the appeal of this college, with the older buildings and trees bordering the campus. Making it feel like you’re in your own magical world once you step in. There’s something in the ambience that just makes you comfortable, one I can’t explain—like you had just come home.

As I drive toward the parking area, I pass an oval building, labeled ‘The Rink.’ I know it’s the home to the infamous Mooseheads hockey team, the breeding ground for future NHL players. It would be a dream come true for any kid in America who plays hockey to be a part of that team. Even I would love the opportunity to just skate on that ice, even for a few minutes.

Shaking the thoughts from my head, I focus on finding a spot in the parking lot. I park my vehicle, shoulder the door open and grab my overnight bag, making my way to Jenni’s dorm. When I questioned her about staying in her dorm room with her roommate she assured me that it was basically a small apartment. They each have their own room, and a spare room that was her friend Becca’s before she moved in with her boyfriend and their daughter.

After spending all our free time on the phone this week, I had gotten to know not only more about her, but her family and friends through our conversations. I knew that she hadn’t initially gotten along at all with her roommate Jess when she first moved in. They were complete opposites, and it didn’t help that Jenni had already felt so out of sorts with her new surroundings that she almost left school. I’m glad she didn’t, otherwise I may not have met her.

My girl had grown up in a very rigid and religious environment. She needed to experience the world and see what was out there. To be honest, after hearing about just how strict she was raised, I was shocked that she was willing to go as far as we did last week. It doesn’t mean I’m not hoping for a repeat. It’s all I’ve been able to think about since that night.

Every day I woke up hard as a steel pipe, while I remembered the way she wriggled and moaned at my hands, her sweet taste on my tongue, and the look in her eyes after she fell apart, it was pure unadulterated lust. I wanted more, so much more. But I knew I had to be patient. This girl isn’t my typical, she’s not the one and done type of girl, not if I had anything to say about it. So that meant my dick needed to stay in my pants until she was ready.

Looking up at the sky one last time, before I step through the ornate doors that mark the dorm entrance, I say a silent prayer to whoever is listening that I have the strength to hold myself in check and let her lead the way.

All thoughts of controlling myself escape my mind the minute she opens her door. She’s standing in front of me in a tiny pair of shorts and a shirt that shows off just a sliver of her midriff. Jenni has me shuffling to discreetly rearrange myself. The vixen notices my actions and sinks her teeth slightly into her pillowy bottom lip, while she eyes the bulge in my pants.

“Fuck.” I groan. What is it about this girl that gets me so hard, harder than I’ve ever been before?

“Wanna come in?” She holds the door open, and I look around the room behind her.

I war with my indecision about all the things I want to do on that red couch sitting behind her, but knowing I shouldn’t.

“No.” The word slips out, and the look of surprise on her face has me backtracking. “No, I mean yes. I do. More than anything, but I shouldn’t… not right now.”

I gesture toward my dick, and she giggles making her face light up.

“How about we go grab breakfast? I’m sure there’s somewhere around here we can get something to eat?” I ask, still trying to get my mind back on track.

“Sure, there’s Family Beans. It’s a small coffee shop, a lot like your mom’s actually. My friend Ellen owns it.” She tells me as she grabs her keys from a small hook next to the door.

I have to bite my tongue to not tell her that keeping her keys by the door is dangerous, but I make a mental note to move the hook for her before I leave this weekend. Maybe I should see what else I can do to make sure she’s safe here. Two girls living alone in a co-ed dorm can be easy targets, especially someone as shy and quiet as Jenni.

A strange feeling of protectiveness bubbles up inside me, as I think of all the ways she could get hurt on this campus alone. Especially during summer when there aren’t as many students around. Thoughts of panic buttons, and whistles flood my mind as we walk down to my car. We make the short drive to the coffee shop, and by the time we enter I already have a list of must-haves to pick up for her before I have to head home.

“Brey, I need your help.” I whisper into the phone later that day while Jenni is in her room getting ready for the world’s best party—her words not mine. I’m still not sure how some random hockey party is supposed to be the best party ever, but I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

“Why are you whispering? Did you kill someone? Shouldn’t you be calling the boys for something like this? I mean, I’ll help, but being a cop and all, it seems that would be a conflict of interest. Maybe call Eli?” she rambles on, not letting me get a word in. “Oh, unless you killed Eli. Did you kill Eli? I wouldn’t blame you, he’s kind of—”

“I didn’t kill anyone.” I interrupt her. “I need you to pick up some things and overnight them for me.”

“Are they items to kill someone? Because I still think I shouldn’t be involved in that—” she starts but I cut her off quickly.

“Geez, you watch way too many of those murder shows. I’m not killing anyone, I’m trying to beef up the security at Jenni’s place. This whole dorm is like a crime scene waiting to happen.”

“So… you want me to send you things… to protect your girlfriend?” She questions me with a suspicious tone in her voice. “Is this like a code, have you been kidnapped and this is supposed to set off alarms that something is wrong?”

“Brey, you are worse than the damn guys.”

“I know, I learned from the best. Lucky you getting stuck with me as a partner.” She giggles through the line.

“Yeah… sure, lucky, let’s go with that.” I mutter under my breath.

“I heard that,” she retorts.

“Are you gonna help me out, or not?”

“Of course, I just had to get in some razzing first. Now, tell me what you need.”
