“Great. I’ll meet you at the Beacon Diner in, umm… is an hour enough time for you?”

“I can make that work. Where is it?”

He laughs, “I’m guessing you haven’t done much sightseeing around our small town.”

“No, I got here late yesterday, and barely had time to check-in before heading to the rink for the draft party.” I tell him remembering how anxious I was when I got out of my internship an hour later than I had planned. The only reason I had known where the precinct was the night before was because Coach had pointed it out on our way to the draft, while he was telling them not to get arrested.

“It’s two doors down from where you’re staying.” And now I feel like even more of an idiot. “The opposite way from how you went to get to the police station. It’s the last place on Main Street, trust me, you can’t miss it.”

“Oh, okay. Umm… by the way, I don’t think you ever told me your name.”

He’s silent for a minute, then lets out a big laugh, “You know as an officer of the law, I should tell you that it’s awfully dangerous agreeing to meet someone when you don’t even know their name.”

“Well, you’re a police officer, so I’m sure you will protect me, won’t you, Officer…?” Am I flirting? I think I am. Why am I flirting with him?

“Officer Russells, ma’am, but you can call me Danny.”

“Okay, Danny, well, I’ll see you in an hour.”

Yep, I’m definitely flirting.
