Leo gathered our empty bottles and put them in the outside trash can. “I have an idea.” He motioned us to follow him.

“What about the kids?” Diego questioned.

“They will be fine. I have every exit guarded from the outside.” Leo waved off his concerns.

“But....” Diego didn’t get to finish his sentence as Leo turned around and stepped to the edge of the deck.

“Lisette, Felix, and Marisol, you are to stay in this yard and only this yard. You may come inside to play if you wish, but while outside, you....stay....here.” Alpha power rolled through his words and had all three children tilting their heads in submission.

Marisol raised her eyes to meet Leo’s, breaking the hold his power had over her.

“She is her father’s daughter.” Leo laughed. “Her need to ignore my commands is already half as strong as yours.”

We followed him in and through to his office. He grabbed one of the leather document tubes and pulled out the plans for expansion. He smoothed them out on the conference table and pointed to where our wall sits now.

“This wall will be demolished, but it will be done brick by brick to save on materials. Essentially they are dismantling it and rebuilding it here.” He pointed to the line marking where the jungle begins. “That leaves all this open space for expansion.” He waved to indicate the large expanse of open field that currently sits between our wall and the jungle line. “We will extend the divide between our business half and our pride community, adding another gated entrance. We plan another park for kids as well as an oasis for adults to enjoy.” He pointed at the two drawings on the map. “The rest of the space will be for homes. Diego has already laid claim here.” He pointed to the plot next to the Alpha’s property. “If he hadn’t, I would have insisted anyway, as a Beta should always be by his or her Alpha’s side.”

I studied the map noticing the expansion allowed for a fully functional medical building to include two operating rooms and about a dozen patient rooms. The upper floor added more space for clinical care. “So, will you move the clinic here when it’s ready?” I pointed.

“That’s the plan. With our growth, we have more demand for better medical facilities. It only makes sense to move the clinic as well.” Leo pointed to the upper part of the design again. “I think this would be a fantastic space for the three of you to build. It’s next to the Beta, but it’s an overly large plot, giving you the privacy, you want while keeping Amelia close to those she loves and trusts. But that’s just my suggestion. You can pick any plot you want.”

Miguel and I looked at each other before responding. I could feel his agreement through our bond. We didn’t mentally chat because one, we didn’t need to, and two, it was rude to do so in front of our Alpha and Beta.

“It’s perfect,” Miguel replied for both of us.

“Then it’s settled. That is yours to build on when the three of you are ready.” Leo rolled up the designs and put them back in their tube. “Work begins next Monday. Casey is also bringing about a dozen shifters from her pride that have volunteered to help beef up security while we are vulnerable. There will be approximately two weeks where we won’t have the security of that wall. I need you and Jonah to make sure patrols and guards are doubled if not tripled for that span of time.”

“I’ll get with him today,” I assured him. Having a job would help keep my mind off Amelia for a while. I didn’t want to suffocate her with my presence twenty-four/seven. I only hoped I could stay focused enough to get security planned out.

“Perfect.” Leo paused. “Well, the girls are on their way back.” Another pause. “Amelia has asked that Miguel come back.” It was obvious he was having a chat with his mate. “That’s it. Niko, I need you to find Jonah, then join Miguel in comforting your mate. She needs both of you right now. If anyone can calm her and convince her to come this weekend, Kat believes it is you.”

“Already on my way. Niko, make it quick and join me at the house,” Miguel yelled over his shoulder as he ran through the front door and headed to his truck.

“Niko, I want to warn you in regard to Amelia. I know your dominant tendencies arise without warning, but you need to take it slow with her,” Leo urged.

“I know, and let me assure you, Miguel and I are. We’ve had a lot of short conversations over the past three days. I am being honest with her and will never push her to do something she doesn’t want.”

Leo nodded in satisfaction. “Good, now go find Jonah and get my security settled.”
