Miguel
I didn’t know what was waiting for me back at Amelia’s house. I wasn’t worried, though. I trusted our Alpha’s mate and mine. Kymber was the live wire of the group. I laughed at the thought. I sent love-filled waves through our tribond. Both my mates would need it as we traversed this journey. I parked my truck and made my way to the porch.
“What has you so happy?” Betty asked as she passed me.
“Life. Life has me happy, Betty.” I could feel my grin widen as I continued thinking of my mates.
“I am happy to see you smiling like that. Congratulations on your mating. You are so lucky to have Amelia and Niko at your side. You three make up the perfect balance that we all strive for.” She dropped her eyes in embarrassment.
I stepped a bit closer and lowered my voice. “It’s out there, Betty. You just have to let it find you.” I squeezed her shoulder. “Please, reconsider going back to your brother. He’s let the search for you tear him apart.”
Betty’s brother was a bouncer at the bar owned by one of the Black Mountain Pack. He came to Jerome asking for help in searching for his sister, and ever since, has run himself ragged working for the pack and searching during his downtime. She had begged us not to let him know yet; she wanted to work through what had happened to her before she went back.
“I will. I just don’t think I’m ready,” she replied.
“You’ll never be truly ready, but you can’t let that keep you from the only family you have left.” I leaned down, so I could make eye contact. “Family is everything.”
“Yes, it is. I’ll think about it. I promise.” She nodded her head. “I should get going, or I’ll be late. It was good to see you, Miguel.” Betty’s smile was back as she waved and continued on her way.
“Good to see you, too.” I waved back and continued strolling toward Amelia’s.
It was an unusually cool day. The light breeze and the blanket of clouds made it feel like a new spring day. The flowers planted around the base of each tree along the walking path were blooming, their fragrance joining that of the fertile earth, the woodiness of the tree trunks, and the scent of my mate. Her scent covered me from head to toe, her essence having merged with mine and Niko’s, creating our own unique scent. Its warmth simmered in my core, an ever-present heat that only the three of us could create.
I hopped up the steps to Amelia’s door, rapping a happy staccato against the wood. I had felt the moment she had fully relaxed with the girls.
“You can come in. It’s unlocked.”I tested the bond, reaching out to feel for her. Her bond caressed mine in welcome, and she opened for me. Her anger from earlier was gone.
I stepped through, pausing to take off my shoes and take a deep breath before I stepped around the wall into the lion’s den. Literally.
“Hello, ladies. I hope you have had a relaxing and refreshing afternoon.”
“It’s been an interesting one, that’s for sure.” Kymber stood, grabbing a small food container as she stood. “I’ll take my third dessert with me. The first two finally filled me up.”
Amelia and Kat laughed at her words. I simply raised an eyebrow in curiosity. I glanced toward the kitchen and saw a few empty containers piled next to the coffee pot, and I couldn’t see past that without leaning back.
“It’s time to take my exit as well.” Kat joined Kymber as she stepped into her shoes and opened the door.
I grabbed Amelia’s hand as she walked up next to me, and together we walked her friends out. She let go to hug each of them and ushered them on their way.
“Go, your mates are probably pulling their hair out by now.” She settled her hand in mine as she stepped back to my side.
“Ten bucks they have their fathers tuckered out and are running rampant in the house.” Kymber challenged Kat as they walked away.
“Come on, let’s go back inside.” I pulled her close and wrapped an arm around her waist. “I’ve missed you.” I nuzzled her neck.
“It’s only been a few hours.” She giggled as I found one of her ticklish spots.
“It could only be a few minutes, and I would miss you deeply.” I let my panther add his own growl of agreement to my words.
“Come inside before the whole neighborhood gets a show.” I could feel her heart rate increase as the tang of her arousal hit my nose. She pulled me inside, locked the door, and pushed me down onto the couch before climbing onto my lap.
Her kisses were fervent and emotion filled. She tried to express through touch what she couldn’t get out in words. My hands roamed up her back and anchored on her shoulders, holding her still against my ever erect cock. I tilted my hips back and forth, giving her just enough friction to excite her but not enough to get her off.
“Do not finish without me.” Niko’s firm command accompanied his heightened desire across our bond. “Just simmer a bit. Anymore, and I’ll be sitting in this meeting with a raging hard-on and no desk to hide it.”
Amelia pulled away and plopped to the side onto the couch, releasing a loud belly laugh.
