“They’ll all remind me of being with you,” she said, kissing me and squeezing my hand.

A bright and expansive feeling bloomed in my chest, and I didn’t know if I had ever been happier in my life than at this very moment, gathering shells with Natalie.

The wind kept tossing her hair around, so I gave her the hair tie on my wrist so she could pull it out of her way.

“We’re definitely coming back here,” I said. With this single haul I could make so many more pieces. Maybe even make more progress on my coffee table. I really needed to finish that up, if only to get it done so I could use it.

Natalie and I filled our bags and then took pictures together. She drew a heart in the sand and wrote our initials with her finger.

We swung our linked hands back and forth as we walked and walked, losing track of time.

Unfortunately, our stomachs had other ideas, so we put our haul back in the car and then Natalie guided me to a Greek restaurant near the beach. We had chicken souvlaki and salads and spanakopita by candlelight.

I couldn’t stop staring at her.

“You’re so beautiful,” I said, resting my head on my hand.

“Stop it. You’re going to make me blush,” she said, trying to hide her face with the wine menu.

“This has been the perfect day,” I said. “Thank you. This was the best date ever.”

Natalie smiled with satisfaction and stood up and did a little curtsy.

“Thank you, thank you.”

I laughed and pulled her in for a kiss over the table when she sat back down.

“Now I need to get you home so I can show you my appreciation for how great of a date this has been.”

I touched her leg with my foot under the table.

“Emerald, are you trying to seduce me?” she asked.

“Yes, isn’t it obvious?”

She wouldn’t let me pay the bill, but I did try.

“You drove,” she pointed out. That was true. “I promise, I’m going to learn how to drive and get a car and then we’ll go on a date that you plan.”

“You know I’m going to try and top you, right?” I asked.

“I hope you do.”

What better way toend the perfect date than with the perfect sex? We took our time, undressing each other slowly, kissing deeply, and fucking each other just until the brink, backing off, and then giving in to leg-shaking, mind-altering orgasms that left us completely wrung out and drowsy afterward.

“I hate that we have to work tomorrow,” she said as we got ready for bed.

“That’s life,” I said with a shrug.

“I guess,” she said.

“You okay?” I asked.

“Yeah. Just thinking. Wishing we were independently wealthy so we could just be influencers who travel and take social media pictures,” she said.

“Wouldn’t that be the life?”
