“True,” Esme said. “But I still love that part when he sings to her on the boat.”

“Me too,” Paige said, snuggling closer to Esme. Linley and I were the only ones flying solo so we were doing a cousin cuddle. I ended up falling asleep and woke up when everyone was getting ready to head back to their own places.

“What time is it?” I asked, yawning. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d fallen asleep this early.

“Almost nine,” Linley said. “You can crash on the couch if you want. Or stay in your room. There’s still a bed in there.”

I shook my head and stood up.

“No, I can haul myself upstairs. I’m a big girl. Happy Wedding Week!” I gave her a big hug.

“It’s not Wedding Week until after midnight, but thanks.”

I went back upstairs and checked my phone to see that I’d missed a few messages from Alivia.

She’d sent me pictures from tonight’s reception, which was due to go into the wee hours of the morning, but she promised that she wasn’t going to stay up that late. She really did need to work less and I was going to push for her to hire more help. I didn’t think the lack of money to pay someone was the problem, it was more Alivia being willing to give up control. She wasn’t very good at that.

Sorry, fell asleep watching wedding movies, I sent her.

No problem, she said, It’s late anyway. Have a good night, Charli.

I wanted to talk with her more, but I was still trying to keep things on a friendship platonic level. Late night texts could quickly turn to flirting and that was the last thing I needed.
