ALEXIS, AKA “ARE YOU GOING TO EAT THAT?”

West must be a terriblepoker player. His face reveals everything he’s feeling. I couldn’t get away with looking so obvious about my feelings. Of course, I’m not blessed with his beefcake body or gorgeous face.

“Where are you living exactly?” West asks and reaches over to stroke my knuckles.

“If I share that info, will you show up unannounced when I’m lounging in my pajamas?”

“Maybe,” he says, undressing me with his pale blue eyes. “I want to keep an eye on you.”

“That’s a totally normal thing to say,” I reply while checking my phone to find ten messages from Zelda demanding me to report back or she’ll send in the National Guard. There are also another ten messages from Juno suggesting I should ignore her sister.

“So, where are you staying?” he asks again, leaning his large body across the table to spy on my texting. I look at his shirt precariously close to sexually harassing the leftover pizza. When his gaze follows mine, he realizes he’s nearly made a mess. Frowning, he sits back. “Why won’t you tell me?”

“First of all, Westly,”

“No. Just West.”

“It’s not short for anything at all?”

“No.”

“Well, earlier, you claimed it was short for ‘go west, young man.’ Maybe get your story straight, buddy.”

Grinning, West taps my phone cradled in my hands. “Who are you talking to?”

“You, stud. That’s what my eye contact is meant to convey.”

West scoots out of the booth, walks around to my side, and casually shoves his ass into my space. I show him my phone and admire how he smells like pizza and a mix of plum and patchouli.

“Hm,” I exhale and smile up at him. “I like your cologne.”

When West moves to plant his lips on mine, I turn away my head. No way does he get his kiss before I receive a commitment regarding this leftover pizza.

“Are you finished eating?” I ask as he swipes my phone and looks through my messages.

“Sure. I wasn’t really hungry anyway.”

“You’re kidding, right?”

Frowning harder at the texts, he asks, “What?”

“Why eat most of the pizza if you’re not hungry?”

“I said I wasn’t really hungry. I’m always a little hungry. I mean, look at my size. This machine doesn’t run on happy thoughts.”

I admire his massive bicep next to my face. Did I shrink, or has he gotten bigger? Perhaps I’m just terrible at size differentials.

“Why are you so weird about the food?” West asks me.

I stare into his beautiful eyes and consider slapping him. Or maybe I’ll refuse to kiss him. No, I’ll just make him feel guilty. Yeah, that’s it!

“Things have been tight since I moved to Tumbling Rock. I figured if there was enough pizza left over, my cousins and I could eat for a few days.”

West’s pout sends my heart racing and my pussy clenching. He’s gloriously handsome but maybe a little dumb and totally untrustworthy. I absolutely can’t stand the beefcake. Though if I was forced to tolerate any man in the world, he’d definitely be the most pleasurable.

“I didn’t think of that,” he says and hands over my phone. “Your cousins are worried about you.”

“I get lost easily. One time, I walked away from my trailer in Fork Falls and never returned. Just up and forgot the way home. That’s why I’m here now.”
