“And does that make good money?”
“Good Lord, no,” she says, chuckling. “That’s why I’m not having my cousins sleep on my couch. But these are fun jobs. I can do the boring ones later when my youthful glee has died.”
Sharing her smile, I want to kiss her sweet lips so badly that I nearly crawl over the table to tackle her.
“Can you tell my future?”
Alexis loses her smile as a pensive expression spreads across her still flushed face. She takes my hand and gazes upward.
“I see promise in your future. No, more than a mere promise. Several paths offer you great success and much bounty.”
“What about my love life?” I ask, already knowing I’ll run the Rawkfist Motorcycle Club one day when my uncle retires.
Alexis exhales softly and stares at a spot in the distance. “Reply hazy. Ask again later.”
“Wait, isn’t that the eight-ball answer?”
“Yes,” she says, and her pensive expression flips to a bright grin as her gaze focuses on me. “No way can I promise you’re getting lucky. There are too many variables. Like, will I get your leftovers? How much tongue will you use during our first kiss? Will you pinch my nipple when I prefer the rolling gesture?”
I don’t know how long I stare at Alexis while my dick inflates and steals the blood from my brain. She doesn’t react to my silence. I watch her pour herself a second glass of orange soda. She boxes up my salad and steals a cucumber slice before closing the container. Her eyes light up when the pizza arrives.
“The best pizza in the county,” Di announces. Then, the waitress smiles alluringly at me and adds, “Enjoy.”
“She wants you to fuck her,” Alexis blurts out before Di even steps away. “Kinda desperate, but I get it. You’re a catch.”
“Is that how you see me?” I ask, shocked I can speak again.
Alexis peels her enchanted gaze from the hot pizza and focuses on me. I swim in her welcoming cornflower eyes and wish she was already mine. Until she’s in my bed, changes her last name to Mercer, and has my babe in her belly, I can’t be sure my heart’s safe with this woman.
Yet, her sweet smile is definitely a great first step.
