“I haven’t said what it is.” Benson raised a brow.

“I don’t care.” She took a defiant bite of sandwich.

Benson rose slowly. Menacingly.

Mal swallowed, eyeing him. They were still in Las Palmas, but she’d already started to mentally transition into the outside world. That meant that his intimidation efforts made her want to verbally eviscerate him, which was what she’d do if he were an irritating client or on the other side of a negotiation.

Benson took her cup and sandwich from her hands, setting them on the table.

Mal folded her arms, brow raised.

Benson planted his hands beside her shoulders and leaned in, growling in her ear. “Behave.”

The growl did it, and Mal tipped her head back, sighing. “I really like the growl. Do we get to do primal play now that you’re willing to fuck me?”

“Want me to chase you?” He drew his lips along her jaw. “Hunt you?” He kissed her lower lip.

“Yes…”

“Then maybe. But that’s not the item.”

Mal opened her eyes, very aware that he had her trapped against the wall.

“What’s our last item?”

Benson cleared his throat. “Proposal.”

Mal blinked. “What?”

“Proposal. I have to propose to you, and you have to accept.” His expression was perfectly serious.

“You… I… That is not on the list!”

“Yes, it is.” His lips twitched.

“Let me see it.”

“No.”

Mal pushed off as if she were going to go find the list. He stopped her, one hand around her throat. He shoved her back against the wall, held her there.

Mal’s nipples—now with silver bars that he’d inserted after the spanking—tingled.

They stared at one another, and Benson dropped his hand, palming one breast. Damn it, the brilliant bastard knew exactly what he did to her.

“That’s our last item. Propose. Or proposal. I’m not sure which.”

“Benson…are you asking me to marry you?”

“No.” He cleared his throat, the oh-so-in-control Dom fading. “But if I were…”

“We have never been on a date.”

“We’ve been on lots of dates. You said all the times we ate dinner here were dates.”

Mal blinked. “That’s a good point.”

“Which means, that if I were to propose, just so we can finish the game, of course—”
