“And I don’t trust you to do the right thing.” He held the straw to her mouth.

She took two sips of the protein shake. “I hate you.”

He laughed as she started to walk away. “Same to you, sweetness. I hate you more.”

Nami wanted to slap him until he shut his mouth, and if he didn’t, she wanted to bite him on his lips. Chew them up. She stopped short realizing how every thought of him was getting her worked up in the wrong way.

How could her treacherous body be so excited to be close to her rival? She didn’t need him in her life.

For the rest of the day, he thankfully did not annoy her. She was thrilled the head of architecture was open to reviewing her proposal further.

“Now, you can really chill.” Ramya hugged her when she met her after her classes that evening.

“Right. Chill.” Nami laughed, but she had a nagging feeling about dinner with her rival. She had invited him, and she could not let him pull the same stunt he did last night. She looked at her cousin lost in her phone. She debated if she should tell her cousin so she had someone to get this stuff off her chest with but decided against it.

Tonight, she was going to try to entice him into kissing her. They would start at the cafeteria, and then she would get him to go on a walk and create a moment to get him to kiss her.

That’s it!

A smile formed on her face just at the thought of closing all the open items in one day—her presentation and the deal with her rival. It was, in fact, time to up the game. Maybe a nice dress and light makeup.

“I got to go, Ramya. Catch you later.” She stood up to get dressed. She didn’t have a lot of time before she had to meet him.

“Wait. Where are you going?” Ramya asked, surprised.

Nami was stumped as she did not expect her cousin to ask so specifically. “I… I’m going out for dinner.”

Ramya looked at her for a long moment like she could read Nami’s mind. “What’s going on?”

“Nothing. Just going out to dinner.”

Her cousin shook her head slowly. “You have been crashing right after classes before you even eat dinner.” She paused like she was thinking through things. “Are you seeing Rana?”

Nami wanted to tell her cousin everything, but she held back. Instead, she rolled her eyes and let out a laugh. “Not seeing him. Just hanging out with him.”

Ramya was not buying her story. “Something’s off, Nami. It somehow doesn’t feel like how it was when you went on the first date with him.”

She had to make up something quickly. “Trying to keep it casual. I have to go back after this semester, and I don’t really want to get into anything… you know… more than—”

Ramya wasn’t buying her story. “You don’t need to if you don’t want to.”

“I don’t know if I want anything with him.” Nami shrugged. “Trying to figure out if it is worth hanging out.”

Her cousin laughed. “Do you realize how many girls would kill to be in your shoes?”

They have no idea!

Rana was the college heartthrob, and so were his cousins. The only thing missing was fan leagues for the Simha brothers. “Let’s not delve too much into it. It’s all good.”

“Okay.” Ramya chuckled. “All I’m saying is, you should keep an open mind about him. He seemed very much into you.”

“Okay, I will.” Nami hugged Ramya before she made her way to her room to get ready for dinner with her rival.

Chapter 13

Nami looked at herself in the mirror and wondered if it was just enough to entice him to be the one to initiate the kiss. She ran her eyes over the charming lavender-colored crop top with puffed sleeves and a square neck. The smoked detail on the blouse added a bit of allure to the overall outfit even when paired with a long, button-down denim skirt.

“Simha, I’m coming for you.” She boosted her confidence before spritzing a few extra sprays of her favorite perfume to ensure she had all the bases covered. She made it a point to wear the tallest wedges she had so her lips were closer to his, and she could close in even if he was hesitant.
