“Where did you get that?” she sputters.

I click off the recording, then pop my cell safely in my pocket. “I have plenty of contacts willing to help me, Mel. You are responsible for what happened to Thalia. You drugged her horses. You could havekilledher. Youdidkill Zeus,” I spit in disgust.

“You can’t prove that. Yes, you have footage of me in the lorry but that doesn’t prove I drugged them,” she says haughtily.

I smile smugly. “You’re right.” Her shoulders sag in relief and she grins triumphantly, only for it to drop with my next words. “But it’s a bit coincidental that it was only Thalia’s horses and thatyouwere in the truck. If that’s not enough evidence, I have witness statements from several people claiming you were asking them where you could get ahold of ACP. Now that doesn’t look good does it,Melody?” I hiss.

She blanches, then screeches. It’s my turn to smile in triumph. “Now I suggest you get yourself out of Wellington and back to London. I don’t want to have to prove my point, show you that I’m being serious and go to the police. But I will if you don’t back the fuck off. What you have done to both me and Thalia.” I shake my head. “We never deserved any of it. You may have been hurt and I know what we did was wrong, but our relationship was never what you wanted it to be. We were never going to last. Your actions in the last couple of months, were they really worth the risk of spending your life in jail?”

She jumps to her feet, her bony finger shoved in my face. “I loved you, Theo. I gave you everything. And you repay me by fucking and leaving me for that whore. You both deserve whatever comes to you. This isn’t over. I swear that to you now. You may think you’ve won, but just you wait.” With that she spins and sashays away. I fall back in my seat. It’s over. Finally.

So why do her last words feel so ominous?

I make my way over to my piccola’s apartment, wanting the comfort of her after my confrontation with Mel. I can’t wait to hold her, tell her everything that just happened. That we’re finally free to be together. We still have hurdles in front of us, but we’re one step closer to our happily ever after.

Pulling up in the parking lot, I spot Greg and Bishop, the guard Aria is dating, having what looks like a heated discussion. I snort. No doubt Greg is giving that poor guy the same treatment he gives me. I’m sure he probably knows about them. He’s an intuitive guy.

Hopping out of my SUV, Greg throws me a scowl and goes back to his conversation. I chuckle, shaking my head. The guy will never like me. He knows Thalia deserves better and I agree with him.

Doesn’t mean I will ever give her up.
