He gives me a thumbs up and leans back against the control desk with his arms folded across his chest. “It was nice to meet you, Cornelius,” He announces as we walk away.

“You too, man,” Cornelius replies. “Whassup, baby? Why you pull me away like that?”

“I thought we had agreed you can wear the Versace jacket I recently purchased for you next week?”

“Well, I decided that I wanted a new one. Now look, I put half down when I was fitted and paid the rush fee. I need another $1200 to pick it up.”

It’s not like I don’t have the money available. Hell, after signing on to represent Osiris, I was given a bonus for accepting a risky client. Still, I am beginning to see where our problem lies, and agree with my girl on her observations. But I’m not one for public drama. I reach into my wristlet and pull out my card with no limit. Another thing he doesn’t know about. “Here you go. Please make sure to get me a receipt so I can write it off as an expense.”

“Thank you, baby. You know I’m going to pay you back for everything, right?”

“Yes, I know. Sorry, I am really on edge lately.”

He tilts my head up to meet his gaze. “Hey, you know I’m here for you. Just talk to me and I’ll help you get through.” He bends down to kiss me and that turns into ass-grabbing and necking. I peer over his shoulder while he laces my collar bone with licks and nibbles, to see Simon staring intensely.

“Simon,” I call out in error, but quickly recover. “He’s uh, waiving me back over there. I gotta go. I pull him into my space and plant a big wet one on his lips.

“Damn, baby. You have never been this forward with me. Maybe I should show up unannounced more often.”

I smile at his assessment, but little does he know, this surge is not because of him.

SIMON

Cornelius leaves with a nod. As the door closes, I approach Myka.

“That’s the boyfriend, eh?”

She looks at me and then back to the closed door. “Yeah, that’s him.” She inhales deeply and then lets it out slowly.

“Is he any good, you know, with the rap career?” I really mean is he any good to her, but their relationship is none of my business.

“He really is. He’s been approached by a few labels, but he hasn’t found the right fit for him.” She shuffles a few papers around in her bag, giving the appearance she’s busy.

“Hmm, no offense, but he seems like a douche to me.”

She turns toward me giving me her full attention. “Says the King of Douchery.”

“Now, hear me out. He comes in here, asks you for money, and then gives you a cheap feel up as gratitude. That’s a playa move, right?”

“What do you know about a playa anyway, Simon. You are open with your promiscuity and that seems to attract the women even more.

“Yes, but in being open and upfront, they know what they are not getting with me. I’m not feeding them a line of bullshit, only my eight inches of python meat.”

Okay, I may have gone a bit too far with that last line.

Myka’s eyes narrow and her nostrils flare when she inhales sharply. “See, that right there is the type of thing we have to avoid, Simon Ashton. While most people may come to expect it, the label and the sponsors are not on board with those lewd comments and lascivious conduct. Including, but not limited to the way you speak.”

I feel personally attacked. “They are mere words, love. Don’t get your knickers in a twist.”

“Be that as it may, Simon, it is part of the reason why I am here now. You can conduct yourself in a calmer manner and still convey the same message to your fans without the need to be overt with your actions. And for heaven’s sake, please stop sleeping around. These paternity suits are ridiculous.”

“But I love women. I love the delicious and nasty things I do to them and they to me. How can I give that up?”

“Come see me,” she replies.

“Oh, you’re saying when the urge hits me to go on a bender of sorts, just come see you and you’ll take care of my desires?”
