Her mouth drops open and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a twinge in my pants at the sight. “Uh, no Simon. I mean come to my place and I can help you get your mind off such things. Like we can talk about work, or music in general.”

“Won’t Cocoa Nuts be there?”

She laughs. “It’s Cocoa Bean and he may be there. He does have his own place. But even if he is, that doesn’t mean you can’t come over. I’m here for you.” She reaches out and strokes my arm, sending a chill down my spine and increasing the surge building in my pants.

She has no idea, but she is fastly becoming my greatest desire.

“No matter the time?”

“Day or night.”

“Bollocks. I don’t even have your address.”

She quickly pulls out her phone and shoots me a text. “There, now you have no excuse. You have my number and my location. Do we have a deal?”

“A deal for what?”

“Being your sexual desires sponsor. Sorta like an AA or NA sponsor. Which is another thing we need to discuss. But I won’t lay it all on you today. We’ll go slow.”

I wish she’d lay on me. My thoughts run rampant with the actions she is trying to hold me accountable for. “I never do anything slow, my love,” I respond.

Instead of her swatting me on my arm or even scolding me, she laughs.

“I can’t with you, Simon Ashton.”

“Can’t what?”

“It’s an expression for can’t deal with someone or something.”

“I see. So, if I said I can’t with the less sex rule, would that be accurate?”

“Yes, but —”

“I’m sure there is no caveat to the expression. Don’t try to dredge up one. Don’t worry, I’m not backing out of our deal.”

Her shoulders drop a bit and I know she’s more relaxed. “You better not.” She grins.

I’m not sure if she feels it too, but there is an energy between us and I’m feeding off it. I lean in closer to her and I’m about to take her face into my hands when we are interrupted.

“Myka, here is the copy you — oh, am I interrupting anything?” Carl boldly assumes when he sees us in a close proximity.

“Huh? Oh, no Carl. Simon and I were uh, discussing a few things about his behavior and how it will not be tolerated.”

“Yea, I was demonstrating how sometimes the picture can appear to be one thing when it isn’t. You helped prove my point, since you assumed we were in the midst of something as you walked in.”

Myka nods. “Yes, he certainly did. I will make sure to review all angles of any photos and video that may paint you in a, um, bad light.”

The rest of the band members return to the instrumental side of the studio.

“Shall we go on to the next song, Myka?” I ask. I take her hand into mine for a brief second before allowing it to drop back to her side.

She moves her hair behind her ear. “Um, yes, ‘Dead End’. Yes, let’s move on to the next song. Carl, I’ll be right back, I need to go call Amber.” She walks out of the door, and I relish the sight.

“She’s taken, man.” Carl laughs.

“What? You think I’m trying to make moves on her? That’s rubbish. I know she’s got a boyfriend. I met the bloke no more than ten minutes ago. Cocoa Butter or something like that.”

“Yeah, those two have a long relationship. Don’t know why he hasn’t proposed yet.”
