Theknockonthe door seemed to take her out of her pheromone filled state of mind. She shifted away from me and it was then I realised I embraced her so tightly.

I took her wrist and shook my head. “I’ll get that.”

“Okay,” she whispered, and moved away from the door. “Do I have time for a shower?”

I nodded. There would be nothing better than having her shower all the beta smells from her body. Cruz found over a hundred tablets in her purse, which I hoped meant she kept everything on her for safekeeping and was waiting for a fresh supply.

Perhaps why she didn’t go to work today. Too scared, everyone would finally realise exactly who she was.

Even Sandy was worried about where she was. Asking repeatedly, but she stepped out of line the moment she told me she was going to check up on Tilly at her apartment.

I ensured she didn’t.

After taking the delivery order, setting her small table with two plates, cutlery and two wineglasses. I placed the food in the middle of the table and walked down the short corridor. My knuckles stopped short of knocking on a bedroom door when my nose twitched at the smells coming from another room. I walked further down the corridor and could hear the buzz of an appliance.

I held my hand over the handle of the door.

“That’s my housemate’s room. It’s locked,” Tilly said. I spun at the sound of her voice.

“Strange smell,” I said, arching an eyebrow.

“She smokes pot,” she said and turned and walked away, expecting me to follow. I did.

How could I not?

She tied her hair up in a high ponytail, the same as she did when she gets flustered and needed to cool herself. She wore a fluffy pair of pyjamas and didn’t have make-up on her face.

I burst out laughing, and she turned to me and smiled. “Something funny?”

“You,” I said, with another roar of laughter coming from my mouth.

“Would you like to let me in on the joke,” she said, crossing her puppy covered arms over her chest and pouting her mouth.

“You think you can put me off by wearing these?” Pulling at the fluffy material adorning her legs. “You are so wrong. I’m more turned on than ever.”

She sounded an eek, which made me laugh again. “I didn’t buy them to put off alphas. I like the material. It’s soft,” she whispered, and I noticed her eyes were teary.

“I’m sorry,” I said, my voice in a low whisper. I’d been omega less and forgot all my training on how to deal with one. She didn’t have any medication inside of her, because our omega was sensitive to little things.

She hesitated as she considered me and I didn’t wait any longer before I stalked over to her, her eyes widened in an instant. I was too fast as I moved with precision and buried a hand in her hair. Her eyes went from worried to darkened at once and my mouth dropped on hers as I tugged her toward me.

It was a long, wild kiss, with teeth clashing and our tongues chasing the other’s. But it was when she deepened the kiss and her hips bucked against mine that I knew she needed to yield to her alpha. She was in a daze with my scent. Her eyes fluttered as her hands slid up my chest, her fingers gripping my shirt.

I pulled her closer, but still tried to restrain myself from taking this further. She cupped my cheeks, and she tried to pull away from the embrace. I didn’t let her, stroking my tongue inside her mouth, sliding along hers slowly, as I switched the kiss more intimate, more demanding, and the moment she moaned into my mouth, I knew I had her.

Her fingers moved to my shoulders as her nails dug. I picked her up and walked to the edge of the room, sandwiching her between the cool wall and my chest, and deepened the kiss further. Trying to suppress my inner alpha, trying to contain the bark that would have her begging for more.

I didn’t want that.

Our pack didn’t want that—not yet.

We wanted our omega to be desperate for her alphas, but at all times, we wanted her willingly. We wanted Tilly, not only because she was beautiful. Also, because she was strong, she was a fighter and because she was our fated.

I was the first to pull away. I needed to—I had to find the strength.

She whined. It was fleeting and unexpected and I dipped my forehead to touch hers because I didn’t want her to see the grin her whimpering had placed on my face.

“Let’s eat,” I said as I lowered her and took her hand, curling my fingers around hers and I led her to the table.

Her lips curled up and there was a cheeky smile on her face as she perched her ass cutely at the edge of the table.

I grinned and walked away, taking the takeaway bags from the kitchen. I glanced over my shoulder to see her watching me with a sweet smile on her face.

“Mm,” she said, smelling the Chinese food still contained in silver containers.

“Next time, I’ll take you somewhere nice, somewhere you deserve to go,” I said.

“No need, it’s lovely, thank you.” Our eyes locking as she took a mouthful of the fried rice and chicken.

I forgot about the other bag on the floor which held the wine and chocolates. “One minute, I’ll get us a glass of wine.” I waltzed back to her kitchen to find a corkscrew. Finally, I found one and pulled the cork out, pouring two glasses of wine.

I took a sip of mine as she smiled and took the other glass and took a sip too. As she looked at me, her chest rose and dropped. Her eyes closed as she took a deep inhale—her eyelashes fluttering as they did and there was a swallow. “I’ll be a minute.”

I checked my mobile and noticed a missed message from Cruz, asking how it was going.

Me: Fine.

Cruz: Suppressants.

Me: No
