Brit took one vial and drank it down. The throbbing pain in her side eased, and she could breathe without her chest hitching.

“How are you feeling?”

“The accelerated healing was welcome. Definitely broke ribs.”

Litha smiled. “You may want to get a doctor to see you sooner rather than later. If your ribs feel fine, your regeneration is about six weeks along. That means other things are six weeks along.”

Brit put her hand on her belly. “Really?”

“Yeah. I don’t doubt you are halfway through your first trimester.”

“Shit. I think I need something sugary.”

Litha smiled. “Have a seat. I will make a dessert.”

Brit grinned. “If you insist.”

She pulled a high chair up to the counter, and she watched as Litha crushed up berries, whipped egg whites, added sugar and folded things together before putting the fluffy pile into the oven.

Whipping cream was next up, and Litha did all the whipping by hand.

Brit watched and got sleepy. She put her head down and listened to the sounds of bustling cooking in the kitchen and a low-toned hum.

When Brit sat up, she was on a couch in a living room near the kitchen, and her bags were neatly folded, her sewing machine was up, and there were fluffy things in the neck. Someone had been busy.

Brit sat up and rubbed her neck, standing up to look through the house. Dinner smelled great and looked amazing. Pot roast always looked good.

She went in search of Litha and found her in the nest, putting the final touch on the pillar bed. “Oh. It’s beautiful.”

Brit felt tears press her eyes, and she wanted to crawl into the fluffy bed with the pillows and duvet with an Egyptian theme.

Litha looked a little rumpled as she turned around. “Feel free to scent mark the works. This is your space. Do you like it?”

Brit hugged the smaller woman, and she sniffled. “It’s perfect.”

Litha hugged her. “Right. You play in here for a while, and I will call you when dinner is ready. If Denier wants to eat, he needs to be here in an hour.”

Brit looked at the piles of neatly arranged bedding, all sewn and trimmed. The entire place was covered in cream, gold, and rich blue.

Brit crawled onto the bed and rolled around, hugging the dozen pillows one by one while giggling. She felt calm, and this was what she had been missing. She hadn’t even known it.

Brit pulled one of the silky faux furs that she had picked out and rubbed her cheek against it.

It took her about a minute, and then, she started to roll around in the sensory delights of the room. She sighed happily. It wasn’t heaven, but it was an amazing place that she wanted to stay in.

She got out of the bed and turned off the light, and then, she crept back into the bed and breathed slowly. She pulled pillows around her and put a hand over her belly.Nah.

Brit fell asleep in a happy, soft cloud.

Litha kept the food warming when Denier came down the steps.

“Where is she?” His growl was nervous.

“Up in her nest. She got grabbed by a speedster, but I got her back. I had to get some healing vials, but she’s back to fighting strength.”

“How many did you take out today?” He frowned.
