Nash had six younger siblings. Chance understood why he felt that way. He was also from a big family. He had four older siblings. In fact, tomorrow he and his brothers and sisters were joining their parents to help celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

“Derek sounds like a very nice guy and you have to respect a man who stepped in to raise his sister’s child,” David said.

“I’d respect him, yeah,” Adam said. “But I don’t know if I’d date him. A baby is a big responsibility and he takes up a lot time.”

“How would know that?” David asked. “You’re an only child.”

“I do read,” Adam said in his defense. “And I know people with kids.”

If David planned to adopt any kids, he’d better break it off with Adam, because Chance had known Adam a long time and never heard him back down from his principles or beliefs.

“When will the two of you have time to date?” Adam asked.

“We had our first date today,” Chance answered. “I invited him to Lincoln Park for the free concert.”

“Did Derek have the baby with him?” David asked.

Chance nodded. “Derek packed a picnic lunch and the kid’s playpen and we had a good time.”

“I never pictured you as the type to like kids,” Nash said. “Even though I know you work with them.”

“I like kids,” Chance said. “If not, I wouldn’t be working with them.”

“How did you meet this guy?” Adam asked.

“I met him yesterday while I was out jogging. He was sitting on a park bench playing with Jaden.”

“And you just fell in love with him?” Nash asked. “Does he even have a job?”

“Yes, and yes,” Chance answered. “He works for a pharmaceutical company.”

“Which one?” David asked.

Chance shrugged. “I didn’t get that much out of him. It has to be one local. How many can there be?”

“There’s only one that I know of,” David said. “What’s his last name?”

“Webster,” Chance answered.

A line-dance song came on the jukebox and Adam hopped out of his seat. “Come on Nash. Let’s boogie.”

“What about David?” Nash asked getting up.

“You two crazy kids go show them how it’s done,” David said.

Nash followed Adam to the dance floor, leaving Chance and David alone.

David pulled out his cell phone and began surfing for something. He handed his phone to Chance. “Is this him?”

Chance took the phone and looked down at the display. “Yes.” He handed the phone back to David.

“Did you read the article on him?”

“No, but I did see the caption.” It called Derek the youngest billionaire in the country. “Do you know him?”

David shook his head. “I do knowofhim. My hospital does business with his company. The guy’s loaded.”

Chance played stupid. “That would explain the cook, the nanny, and the butler he introduced me to.”
