“Soon,” Chance answered. “I have to see how this goes with my family. You know they are all going to be there on Sunday.”
“What about Adan?” Nash asked. “He’s been hanging around here a lot, looking for you.”
“Told him I wasn’t available. I’m not interested in a one-night stand.”
Adam frowned at him. “Let, me guess. You’ve slept with this guy.”
“Yeah,” Chance admitted. “But that’s not the reason why I’m doing this. It’s time for me to grow up. Derek makes me happy, and Jaden is a fantastic kid. I’d be stupid to pass up a life of happiness for one night of freaky sex with Adan. I like the thought of having someone to come home to in the evenings.”
The waiter brought their beers and smiled at Chance. “I haven’t seen you in a long time.”
“That’s because he’s found himself a lover,” Nash said.
The waiter smiled. “Lucky man. I wish you the best.” He took his tray and walked away.
Chance shook his head. He was definitely sure he was doing the right thing. He hadn’t had problems finding a guy, just finding the right guy. Derek Webster was definitely the cream of the crop.
“So, what happens after he meets your family?” David asked.
Chance shrugged. “We’re just going to take this one step at a time.”
“Well, I’m happy for you,” David said.
“That means you won’t be hanging out with us anymore,” Nash said.
“I wouldn’t say that,” Chance said. “Just not as much.” He reached into his backpack and took out a magazine.”
“What is this?”
“My future.”
Nash looked down at the cover. “Is this him?”
“Yeah,” Chance answered. “It’s an advance copy.”
“Oh, my God, he’s gorgeous,” Nash said. “No wonder you’re so gaga. Is this the kid?”
Adam came around to look at the cover.
“Yeah. He’s got the sweetest smile, especially since he cut his first tooth.”
“He is handsome,” Adam said. “I won’t pass judgment until after I meet him.”
David chuckled. “Stop giving Chance such a hard time. You know you’re happy for him.”
“Okay, I’ll admit it,” Adam said. “Maybe he’ll invite us over and we’ll all end up best friends.”
Chance was hoping the same thing. He was sure the guys were going to love Derek.
