“From the lack of space on this wall,” Liv said. “It looks like you won’t be adding any more pieces to this genre.”

Nicola’s mouth stretched into a Cheshire cat smile. “I have three more acquisitions waiting in the wings. Once my designer finishes etching their origins onto their glass placards, I’ll start a new panel.” She pointed to a curtained off area to their right.

“Are the new pieces here in the museum?” Zeke asked.

“Of course. I would not trust them anywhere else.”

“May I see them?”

“They’re not ready for viewing yet. Dr. Bentley still needs to have them restored.’’

“We don’t mind a bit of dust.” Phin sidled up next to Nicola. Placed his fingertips on her waist as he leaned across her to look at Zeke. “Do we, bro?”

“Not at all.”

Zeke watched Nicola stare at Phin’s mouth, inches from hers. She inhaled a slow breath before snapping the fan open at her wrist and setting it into motion.

“Follow me,” Nicola said in a husky voice.

Another conquest.

Phin winked at Kayla, who rolled her eyes.

Liv smiled.

Zeke trailed after the group, heading toward what would no doubt be another heart-wrenching letdown. But he wasn’t strong enough not to hope.
