Those weren’t the actions of a man who hated me.

“I won’t be a pawn for your machinations.”

“You will do as I tell you. I’m the reason you escaped.”

“You’re the reason I was imprisoned,” I snapped right back.

He lunged at me, too quickly for me to avoid him, and fisted a hand in my hair. He dragged me close. “You’re mouthy.”

“Isn’t being free to speak part of your plan? Or does that freedom only apply to you?” Silas and Sebastian couldn’t be more different. One appeared to want power only for himself, whereas Sebastian appeared to wield it for others.

“In my world, all men will get to fuck whoever they want. It won’t be some precious prize doled out to those considered worthy.”

“Don’t the women get a choice?”

“They can choose to participate or not.”

I closed my eyes and wondered how I’d ever listened to him. Liberties and freedom should be granted to the Grays, but not by putting someone violent or selfish in charge.

I didn’t expect Silas to mash his mouth on mine. The moment he did, repugnance filled me, and I pushed at him, which only made him embrace me harder. He thrust a hand between my legs, and I cried out.

“No.” In a panic, I flailed, disgusted that he would force his touch on me.

“Go ahead and fight. I like it a little rough.” He chuckled against my mouth as he rubbed me roughly.

Tears pricked my eyes. I didn’t want this. He revolted me. My stomach roiled. I couldn’t stop myself from spewing.

“Fucking whore!” he yelled as a stream of bile hit him. He scrubbed furiously at his face and uttered an inarticulate stream of invectives.

I hugged myself, trembling with fear. Especially when his gaze fixed on me.

His lip curled. “Time you remembered your lessons in obedience. Since we don’t have any shock sticks, guess my fists will have to do.”
