All conversation stops. Typical. I just smile and look as innocent as I can. As I walk down the stairs, I can see something like hunger in Cahill’s eyes as he stares at me. I hope I haven’t overdressed. He is in ripped jeans, white t-shirt, and sunglasses on his head. He looks exactly how he did when we met in the coffee shop. You wouldn’t think he is a criminal, or the head of any family in the mafia. He looks so young, and overly handsome, and the cocky shit knows it.

Ruairi is in shorts and a t-shirt. He looks like he’s just out of the gym. I can see he has some tattoos covering his arms too. Lauren will be loving life with him. I hope he is treating her right, but I don’t want to ask, maybe tonight I will call Lauren.

I need to work out what to do about my job, I have to be there tomorrow morning. There are so many things I will need to ask Cahill on our way, if we are still going. As I walk up close to the boys, I ask, “Hi, do you need me to grab anything? Or do anything?” I like being helpful and useful.

Ruairi smiles at me, as if I had said the nicest thing ever. I don’t know what type of women he is used to being around.

“No, doll. Go wait in the Range Rover, I am coming now. Just grabbing our picnic off Jones,” Cahill tells me with a big smile, but I think it’s a front. I walk off toward the front door where Cahill should have the car waiting for us.

I overhear Ruairi say, “She is something else, Cahill.”

I don’t know what he means by that, I only offered to help, not make a miracle but I keep walking.

I get to the car and climb in the front and fiddle with my Spotify to get a playlist ready. Today Cahill will learn about Brothers Osborne, Kane Brown, Thomas Rhett, and Sam Hunt a little more. I am sure he will love Chris Stapleton and his songs, “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Scarecrow in the Garden,” his voice is amazing. I have seen him play live, and he sounds exactly how he sounds on the radio, just amazing.

I am busy sorting our playlist and don’t see Cahill leave the house or head toward the car till the door opens. He places the picnic basket on the back seat, before he gets into the driver’s seat.

“I have made a playlist for us. Is it ok if we plug my phone in?”

Cahill laughs. “Yeah, doll, I can’t wait to listen to what you picked for us.”

He really smiles. I like this side of Cahill, he is carefree and handsome, but I do secretly enjoy the demanding side of Cahill when he makes me come. Whoops! I’m blushing again. I am trying not to think about last night too much. “Change of plan, doll, we are going to head to Bray Head for the cliff walk. The zoo was booked up today.”

“Yeah? That’s great. I like that walk. We took the dart to it last year. Some beautiful cafes are there, we might be able to grab you a gingerbread latte.” I laugh playfully. “It’s a gorgeous day for a walk along the coast. Thank you for thinking of this. I am so happy to be getting out of the house.”

I know the real reason why we aren’t going to the zoo, but I won't bring it up, yet. I want to bring up the subject of work, but I will wait till later until we are both in a good mood.

We take off and head to Bray, County Wicklow. I finally get the playlist sorted. The car ride only takes about half an hour. Cahill looks like he is really listening to the music, as if it is a key to something. It’s only music.

When we stop, I jump out and stretch. I look over at the sea. It is so clear today. The sun is shining on the water, making it glisten. It’s very picturesque. I stand close to the wall, my back to the Range Rover and let the breeze blow my hair. It’s so peaceful.

I wish I brought my kindle so I could have gotten a picture for my blog page. My followers love to see where I am reading, most of them are from America, so they love to see Ireland as they all have an Irish relative somewhere. I turn back round after a few seconds. I see Cahill staring at me and slide his phone back in his pocket. I walk toward him with a smile.

“Lead the way, sir,” I say casually as I get close to him. I can bet my life savings I hear him growl. Did I say the wrong thing? I was only messing. I just walk beside him. “Do we need the basket for lunch?” I nearly forgot about lunch. Food is always on my mind. And hopefully to distract him from whatever made him growl at me.

“Oh yes, sorry, I got distracted. I will grab it now, doll.”

He jogs back to the Range Rover, and I openly gawk at him. Luckily my sunglasses hide me. He jogs back with the basket, then we head off. As we walk, I take a few snaps of the path and water, it will still be good for my blog. When we get near the far side of the walk, we head a little off the beaten track to find a good picnic spot. I grab the blanket from under Cahill’s arm and lay it out on the ground while he sets the basket down. The blanket and basket are both grey. I need a picture, so I take the basket off Cahill and set it up for a shot.

“Doll, would you like me to take a picture of you?” he asks so casually.

I hand my phone over shyly. “Yes, please, you might need to take more than one. It's for my blog.” I’m so embarrassed admitting this. Cahill just smiles. I can't see his eyes as he’s wearing sunglasses, but I don’t think he is laughing at me. I sit down and pose while Cahill snaps away. I think I see him with his phone out too, but I could have been wrong.

“There, that is enough now. Let's eat before I eat you, Sophie,” he says to me in that husky tone. I like to hear it a lot. Do I affect him? He affects me so much.

Jones has packed us some cheese, crackers, fruit for me, and sandwiches for Cahill. There is some wine in there also. I like Jones, I think he knows me so well already. We talk about random topics while we eat. Cahill tells me about his sister and mother. I think I would like to meet his sister, Aoife. While we are sitting there eating and talking, a song comes on from my playlist called “The Git Up” and it has a dance to go with it, of course I know it.

“Oh my God! I love this song! Want to dance to it with me?” I squeak out as I stand up.

“No, no. I will watch this time,” he tells me. I get right into it and dance like no one is watching me. They don’t play this song in a club, it’s more often at a country bar with a beer or whiskey in hand. This has been such a good day so far. Once the song ends, I flop back down on the blanket and see Cahill is really smiling at me.

“What? Is there something on my face?”

He just shakes his head and starts to pack up, which I help him with. Once we’re packed up, we walk back to the car.

“That was some dancing. Not sure if it was right or wrong but you looked good, doll.” Oh my God I am blushing again.

“Thanks, just something I picked up from YouTube and TikTok. Mainly to pass the time.” I am so awkward at times. “Oh, while we are talking, I kind of need to go home tonight as I have work tomorrow.”
