“All in good time, doll. I can't wait to rip that dress off you when we get home.”

Music starts to play. Cahill stands up and puts his hand out. I can’t dance to proper music, especially in these heels, but he is still waiting with a tilt of his head and a quirk to his brow. I give in and take his hand. He pulls me in close, his hands rest on my back, and my arms around his neck. I am super close to him. I can feel the heat of his body. He flicks my thong back into action but keeps me moving around the dance floor.

“They are strong little vibrations. I can feel them on me.” He informs me as I go bright red wishing this would end with me coming. Just as we are getting into a rhythm, and I get used to the thong, I hear a pop, like a firecracker. Cahill stops, then I hear more pops, but I know something is wrong. It's not firecrackers. Cahill grabs me and pulls me along with him.

“Slow down. I can’t run in these heels! What’s going on?” I shout.

“Take the heels off, Sophie!” He stops so suddenly, I crash into his back as he bends down to yank my heels off, then he throws them away. Once done he is back up and running, dragging me with him. We run downstairs. I can hear a lot of screaming, and doors closing, but Cahill seems calm and in control. I am just being dragged along. We’re near the end of the stairs when we hear a loud boom. The ground shakes and I drop to the ground, covering my ears. I don’t think I am coping well in this situation. Cahill covers my body with his. I can hear him on his phone talking to someone, but I don’t know what he is saying as I’m just trying to breathe. After a few seconds Cahill gets off me, grabs my hand, and is back to pulling me along. Before I know it we make it outside. He pushes me into a car, pushing me down on the back seat with his body over mine.

“Shh, shh, Sophie. It’s ok, we are going home,” he coos into my ears while I am shaking. I still don’t fully know what is going on. A few minutes later Cahill moves us both so I’m sitting on his knee, and he is cuddling me. He draws circles on my back.

“What happened, Cahill?”

“Someone attacked the hotel. It could be for many reasons, but I just wanted to get you out safe. Liam is driving us home now. Jonathon is going to stay behind and see if he can pick up any more information for us, Liam will come back for him once we are dropped off at home. I am so sorry, Sophie. I thought tonight would have been safe.” Cahill hangs his head. I look up at him and kiss him. I don’t care Liam is in the car. I need to feel him. I need to be closer. He kisses me back and holds me, his hands in my hair tilt my head to get a better angle.

“Cough, cough, get a room.” Liam laughs at us.

We stop kissing, and I giggle. As I sit here, I begin to think. “Did anyone get hurt or killed tonight?”

“From what I have heard so far, no. The attack was more of a scare move. The bomb didn’t do too much damage, it was more noise than power.” Thank God. I just want to go home to bed.

We pull up at the house and Cahill carries me inside up to his room. He sets me down on the bed and takes the pins out of my hair, he hands me a face cloth to clean my make-up off. I pull the earrings out and remove my contacts. Cahill leaves me on the bed while he strips out of his suit into shorts and hands me his t-shirt. I pull my dress down, put on Cahill’s t-shirt, which is far too big for me. I pull the thong off and fling it away. Cahill laughs.

“Not your friend, is it?”

“It had me on edge all night. So, no, it’s not my friend. Maybe another night it will be.” I smile. I climb into his bed, and he tucks me in. “I just need to go see Ruairi, but I will be next door in the office if you need me. Try to get some sleep. We will talk about it tomorrow.”

He kisses my forehead and leaves. I want him to come back to bed and cuddle me, instead I curl into a ball and cry. I eventually fall asleep. This is not what happened to the princess when she went to the ball.
