ChapterTwelve

Cindy

“You’re scheduled for facials, couples massage, and then, if you so desire, the hot tub is available.” Bibi waggled her perfectly defined brows from behind her tablet. “There are also light appetizers available at the lounge, and of course, champagne. We can reserve a table for two out on the deck for the night, so it’s ready when you are. We’re far enough away from Sunset Springs that the stargazing is divine.”

Logan grinned. “You pulled all that off on the way here?”

“What can I say? I have connections.”

“Maybe I need to hang out with Bibi more often,” he said as he got to work freeing the twins from their car seats.

“Boys! This is a busy parking lot.” They were already bouncing around the car excitedly. “They think they’re going to the rescue farm because they’re here.”

But the most dangerous thing was for me to get lost in Logan Mathis. Not that I didn’t want to. Being around this man made me want to forget my life and get swept away in the fantasy of him.

This fantasy can be your life, my she-wolf reminded me. If you let it.

“We can make the farm happen. Just need a ride over there because that’s a long walk for little legs.” Wendy hoisted Charlotte onto her hip. “Maybe I can talk to Damon and Mason...find out if they’ve seen anything out of the ordinary lately.”

“Don’t get the Colorado Ranch pack involved,” I groaned.

Logan quirked a brow. “Anything I should know about, since I’m staying at the chalet?”

His words had a slight rumble, like his animal wanted to break free from his human constraints and make all the bad stuff go away. I appreciated it, but some things a she-wolf had to handle herself.

“You saw some of it on The Real Werewives. But the backstory—my boneheaded ex convinced our alpha to try to start a revolution here. Obviously, it went badly. And when Jackson realized he was being a complete asshole—”

“More like Michelle left his sorry ass and refused to come back until he smartened up,” Wendy corrected.

It was hard not to laugh at that visual.

“We’re finally welcome here. I don’t want to screw that up.” I loved Wendy, but she had a penchant for stirring the pot. “Everyone, have fun. If you have any concerns—”

“Call me,” Bibi interjected. “These two are on a date.”

I kissed the kids and made Wendy promise not to cause any trouble while they were at the farm. I wasn’t sure what time I would be done tonight—but Bibi assured me she’d handle everything. My instinct was to argue that they were my kids, and it was my job to take care of them, but damn if it didn’t feel good to let someone else work out the details.

With visions of easily accessible babysitters and a life with Logan dancing in my head, we followed the crew into the chalet, hand in hand.

Bibi motioned for us to wait for her in the main area. Just walking in here made me feel special. The chalet had only been built a few years ago, and our packs hadn’t been seeing eye to eye at that point, so this was my first time inside. It was all wood with cozy leather couches, high ceilings, and a wall of windows in the main area.

“Have you ever had a facial before?” I asked.

“Yeah.” Logan nodded, to my surprise. “Apparently shifting all the time is tough on the skin. Dried me out. So my makeup artist on the show suggested a specialized shifter spa.”

No way. “There are shifter spas?”

“You’re about to go to one. They have practitioners that know how our bodies are different than humans, and what we need.” He raked his gaze over me. “Have you ever had a facial before?”

I shook my head. “First time at a spa.”

“Get ready to get spoiled.” He squeezed my hand. “I can’t wait to hear what you think.”

Bibi returned with two spa workers trailing behind her. Of course, she was on a first name basis with both, because Bibi was no stranger to the spa.

I followed my facialist into a tiny room with a bed, and after she asked me a few questions, I got undressed and climbed onto the table.

“Relax,” was the last thing she said to me.

The facial was heaven. At first, I tried to figure out what she was doing, but soon I was lulled into a dreamlike state.

Dreams were dangerous, because that was where my past liked to make an appearance.

But they were no match for the magic here. A hand on my shoulder startled me back to consciousness and the facialist told me to follow her to the next room when I was ready.

Logan was waiting for me in a plush robe that matched mine.

“So how was it?” he asked. “You’re glowing.”

“I feel like I’m floating.”

“It can be a little addictive. We might have to schedule recurring appointments.”

My she-wolf rumbled in approval. She was totally ready to go from someone who bought drugstore exfoliator in a giant tube to someone who went to the spa on the regular.

Logan grinned, stepping closer to me like he wanted to absorb the vibration that came from my animal.

It was hot.

The masseuses appeared, and as horrible as their timing was, it probably saved me from giving the wolf what he was craving in the chalet spa hallway. It was pretty easy to forget who I was here.

You’re not that woman anymore. Effective immediately,my she-wolf declared.

This room had two beds in it, set up diagonally, so our faces would be near each other.

“Disrobe as far as you’re comfortable, and lay on the table, face down. We’ll be back in a few minutes.”

All I had on under the robe were my panties. This wasn’t feeling like a first date anymore, or like it had been less than twenty-four hours since I’d summoned Wolf Number Two from behind the wall. But I wasn’t ready to totally bare myself in front of this wolf.

The awkward silence threatened to swallow the entire appointment.

“I’ll go first,” Logan suggested, untying the sash of his robe. “Once I’m settled, you can do the same.”

I diverted my gaze. I’d seen Logan’s body before—and I knew the man was solid muscle with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. That Adonis belt was something I thought only existed on TV. But now it was in the room with me.

This wolf could be mine.

My gaze was drawn to his body, and he knew it. A slow, sexy smile spread across his face as he climbed onto the table. All wolf. Muscles worked under his tanned skin and my mouth watered. Once he was on his stomach—which couldn’t have been comfortable—he held my gaze for a few moments more before turning away.

I reminded myself to breathe, and let the robe slide off my shoulders. My skin was sensitized, and the muscles between my legs throbbed as I climbed onto my table. I had half a mind to lock the door and climb on his table instead...

It’s a first date, and this man has secrets, I reminded myself. He’s the most famous wolf in the world and you’ve barely known him a day.

My she-wolf was rolling her eyes at me.
