“You heard of the Hell’s Rebels?”

“MC based in…” My brow puckered as I tried to recall where I’d heard of them. “Texas.”

“Look at you, forgetting a conversation.”

I rolled my eyes. “I hate MCs, you know that.”

“I know why you do too. They’re soldiers. Just with no rules.”

That had me scowling. “That’s the direct opposite of the definition of a soldier. You just described a group of tyrants—”

“Let’s not split hairs because your memory’s failing you. Is Inessa sucking it out of you?”

“Fuck you,” I growled, making him laugh. “Get on with it.”

So she could go back to sucking something out of me.

“Eagle Eyes isn’t attached to theFamiglia. He’s a gun for hire.”

My brows lifted at that. “So the rumors were bullshit.”

“All the best rumors are. Still, it’s clear the Bratva heard that rumor and, as planned, are blaming the Italians for the hit on their Pakhan.”

I rubbed a hand over my chin, grimacing at the scent of Inessa all over my fingers. Fuck, I wanted to eat her pussy so badly… “There’s a reason you’re telling me shit I already know, so, I repeat, get on with it.”

“Long story short, Aela O’Neill has a position in Providence at the Rhode Island School of Design.”

My brows lifted at that particular blast from the past. Aela and Dec’s old love had been best buds. When Deirdre had been a stupid cunt and gotten herself killed, Aela and Dec had a massive falling out that had seen Aela leaving our neighborhood and heading for the mother country.

“She’s a professor?”

“Apparently.” He sighed, but the news came as a surprise. Aela had been part rebel, anti-establishment, and all that shit. A professor? Huh. “The daughter of the Prez of the Hell’s Rebels is taking one of her classes. She approached Aela—”

“With violence?” I barked, twisting away from Inessa, who I knew was reading my facial expressions.

“No. Apparently Aela has an Acuig tattoo on her wrist.”

My brows lifted at that. “Why? She was never a foot soldier.”

“I don’t know.” And that, right there, was a fucking lie. But I let it drop. “You know how distinctive the tattoos are. This Amaryllis kid saw it and approached her, and asked her for her help, thinking she was in the life.”

“And she got in touch with you?”

“Yeah. She did.”

“And now someone’s driving toward my apartment—”

“Amaryllis and her protective detail, I think.”

“Who’s Eagle Eyes to Amaryllis? Boyfriend?” I guessed.

“Seems so. He was taken eight hours ago—”

“We’re going to find him, aren’t we?”

“Her daddy, the Prez, is offering big bucks to retrieve him.”

“Since when were we swayed by big bucks?”
