“Emily?”
“Mr. Knox’s assistant.” I cleared it up.
“You want me to call Mrs. Martin?” She sounded even more doubtful than before. This was starting to get really old.
“Just do it.” She didn’t move, so I used the voice that I reserved for naughty kids during my classes. “Now!”
Reluctantly, she picked up the phone and pressed one and then waited. She walked away so I couldn’t hear the conversation, so I turned my attention to Sofi and took her on a tour around the lobby. Her sneaky hands left one of Hunter’s décor plants without a couple of leaves, and she showed them to me like they were a treasure.
“I see, baby girl. Let’s try to not destroy anything else while we’re here, alright? We don’t wanna make Uncle Hunter mad.”
One of the six elevators opened and I spotted Emily coming out of it. She looked amazing, as always, with a black suit and red bottoms. People actually moved out of the way to make a path for her.
“Amy! Did something happen? Is Sofi alright?” She touched the baby’s hand, looking concerned and loving. Sofi was making victims all over the place with her charm. She was simply loved by all.
“Oh, Gosh, don’t worry. Everything is fine. We were in the area and I thought maybe Hunt…Mr. Knox would like to see Sofi. He’s been gone for quite some time.” Lie.Iwanted to see him.I was craving him like an addict.
“Ah, I see. Amy, I’m not sure Mr. Knox would want to…he’s been very clear with his instructions for Sofi.” Yeah, he ordered everyone to keep her away from him, but that was in the past.
“Things are different between him and Sofi now.” I wasn’t sure how much I was allowed to say. “I can go back to the car and call him. My phone is there.”
“Different?” A faint smile tried to show on her lips, but she hid it fast. “You know what, let’s just go up. Mr. Knox is having a meeting with a friend.”
We chatted on our way up, Emily asked about my job and I answered, trying my best to not say anything that could indicate my relationship with Hunter. She was genuinely interested, and I could tell she cared about both Hunter and Sofi.
“Go take a seat in our waiting area and I’ll go to my office to call Mr. Knox.”
“Sure. Thank you, Emily.”
“No problem.”
Emily’s office was hidden behind double doors, just like Hunter’s, so she was out of earshot. It didn’t take long for the door leading to the main office to open. I expected to see Hunter, but instead I was face-to-face with Henry. I recognized him right away, especially his blonde hair and curious eyes. Same eyes that watched me melting into an orgasm while Hunter fucked me from behind.
At first, he politely greeted me and then kept walking, but stopped abruptly.
“I’ll be dammed,” he whispered. “Well, hello, little one. I almost didn’t recognize you without the mask and the collar. And the moaning, of course.”
Oh, God. I felt strangled by shame.
“H-hi.”
“Ah, don’t be a stranger. We’re all friends here. Knox must be doing a hell of a job if you came here in the middle of the day.” He smiled and nodded at Sofi. “Is she yours?”
“No, umm…she’s…”
“Mr. Parker.” Thank God for Emily’s intervention. “Your car is downstairs and I took the liberty of delivering a special bottle of champagne to your hotel suite.”
“You’re amazing, Emily. Have you ever thought about looking for another job? I’ll double your salary.”
“I’m afraid I’ll have to pass. We both know Mr. Knox would be lost if I left,” she joked.
Henry’s attention turned to me. His cheeky smile predicting a whole lot of trouble.
“What about you, little one?” The pet name made Emily look at him with raised eyebrows. “I’ll double whatever he givesyou.” He didn’t even try to hide the suggestion.
Emily saved me again.
“I’m afraid Mr. Knox will fight you on that too, Mr. Parker. Amelia is the best nanny there is.”
