"I love you, too," I say. "Although, the way you said it sounds much better than my words."

"Not to me, it doesn't. Those are the best four words I've ever heard in my life. Especially when I probably still don't deserve them."

"No more doubts?" I ask.

He shakes his head. "Not a one."

"No more distrust?"

"None."

He can't know the way his words sink deep into me, encircling my heart, squeezing it until the pain seems like a distant memory, because here, Ezekiel is now erasing the words he said before, replacing them with declarations of love and a future. And I can feel Jeremiah watching us, watching me. I don't have to look over my shoulder to know his eyes are on me, probably wondering if this is when things are made right so we can all be together again. It is, and yet, the feel of Ezekiel's arm around me, my body pressed against his, has me thinking of a better way of telling him than just saying it.

"Do you think this is groveling?" I question.

"I am more than open to suggestion."

"I believe groveling is done on your knees."

"I will drop to my knees right now, in the middle of all these people."

He begins to back away to do just that, but I grab the lapels of his jacket to stop him. "Everyone would think you're proposing to me."

"And?"

I go still. "Do...do you really mean that?"

"I had to go a week without you and feel as though I barely made it, Lexa. If I could beg you to stay with me and Jeremiah forever so I never, everhave to be without you again, then I'm gonna do it."

I bite on the corner of my bottom lip, trying to contain my smile. It's not working. Shaking my head, I say, "I would rather you grovel when we're both naked. You can decide what to do once you're on your knees."

I instantly feel him get hard against me.

His voice is much huskier when he replies, "I think you're underestimating how quickly I could have you bent over a bathroom sink in here, watching in the mirror as I sink into you."

Desire rushes through me, but then Heather's voice is in my ear, jolting me back to reality.

"We're about to begin the silent auction," she tells me, which means I need to go up and announce each winner.

"I have to go," I tell Ezekiel, "but I'm not going home tonight, so if you truly want to grovel, then you and Jeremiah will find out where I am and come to me. If you don't find me, well..." I shrug while pulling away. "Then, I guess I'll just spend the night alone. Naked and alone."

He pulls me back in though, making me gasp with the force he uses to get me closer so he can bring his mouth to mine. His kiss is gentle, gentler than he's ever been. I close my eyes at the feel of his lips, once again finding something to savor tonight.

"We will find you," he promises.

"We'll see." I smirk.

I walk away on shaky legs and with a racing, but healing, heart. Heather looks apologetic when I reach her.

"I'm sorry," she says. "I didn't want to ruin the moment you were having with Ezekiel, but I didn't know if you'd want me to announce the winners."

"It's fine. We said everything we needed to."

She squints. "In a good way or a bad way?"

"Good. Definitely good."

She smiles. "Then, good."
